Are you still looking for info on Martin Noteboom/buried in Pipestone?
I have a document that I printed off the Internet with family history about Martin Noteboom, married to Ricke Ottema. Ricke was a sister of my grandmother, Josie Ottema Dykstra. I tried to attach the document, but was unable. I can send you the link if I can find it. I think I found the name spelled differently (Neuteboom) in the Dutch records.

Hi Scoot,

I am sorry that when I replied to you yesterday,I had your posting confused with Lynette Lum's posting. I stiil can help you though. Your grandfather Cornelius "Bud" Noteboom was the son of Gerrit (b. 1878) and Alice (Bylsma) Noteboom.
Gerrit was the son of Cornelius (b.1850) and Jennie (Den Adel)Noteboom. Cornelius was the son of Gerrit (b.1825)and Leine(Langstraat)Noteboom. My 3rd greatfather Johannes
was the youngest brother of Gerrit (sons of Arie) who came over from Holland in and settled in Pella IA. You will still find your branch of the family under the 2 famliy trees I gave in the other reply. I really hope this helps you out.

Hi Scott,

I can help with your family tree since I happen to be a cousin of yours. I have been researching the Noteboom tree for time now. Most of what you need to know is at the website rootsweb.com. Use the name Ben Noteboom in the search field. The name that will appear will be Ben Isaac Noteboom who I believe is your great grandfather Benjamin. LoriLynns Family is accurate family tree. If you look under SharonScott's tree the Burgraff Family Tree at this site will actually give you more information on your branch of the family. Your great great grandfather Isaac b 1853 (son of Pieter Noteboom and Maria Vander Meer) traveled to Oregon from Pella, IA (this where the Notebooms originally settled in the states coming from Holland)with his family as a boy. Sharon provides some of the story although I have read the sad story in greater detail in the Noteboom Family tree book which was put together by a relative H. Vande Garde. Unfortunately, I no longer have the book, but I believe a copy is available at the Calvin College Hertiage Center in Michigan. My 3rd great grandfather was the youngest brother of Pieter. I have a great deal more information on the Noteboom tree, but you should be able to to find a great deal on the internet as well by using google as I have. A word of caution there is some misinformation on the LDS site as the parents of Pieter and Johannes, but the two trees at rootsweb I gave you have the correct info. If you need anything please contact me and I will be more than happy to help you out.

Shelly Mannes
Pieter Rocus Noteboom and his wife Niesje Groeneweg moved from Germany to Sioux County, IA. around 1898 - They had four children born in Barendrecht, Holland, then two in Germany and last one was born in Minnesota (Rena Noteboom, born in Murray Co., MN. on Dec. 2, 1901). Niesje was buried in Sioux Co., IA. (no marker) - she died on July 25, 1904. He gave up the custody of his seven children right after she died and all were raised by their mother's siblings. Anyone out there familiar with this family??

Dear Isabel Welch,
It is almost two years ago you posted a reply on my message. I do not think my grandfather Christiaan Noteboom is family of your family. He lived his whole life in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. The Noteboom family is parted in two lines: the one of the middle of the Netherlands (Deventer, terwolde and Apeldoorn) and the one in the west part. I am from the middle part and maybe the Christiaan from your family is from the west.
With kindest regards from The Netherlands, Mariëtte Noteboom

Who knows the ancestors of Jacobus Noteboom, born in Apeldoorn/The Netherlands/Europe.

Jacobus Noteboom was the brother of my grandfather Christiaan Noteboom from Apeldoorn, The Netherlands. Around 1890 he left The Netherlands for the United States. He was about 25 years old. He was a butcher. Does somebody know anything about his life and his family in the USA? Thanks for your help. Mariëtte.

Dear Marriette,

The Noteboom family is not a relation of mine, I just have an odd little habit. You see in the states cemetaries are often very pretty and parklike. They are quite and have a lot of flowers. my dad always taught me you could learn a lot of history by observing the tombstones in the cemetaries, so I have loved visiting cemetaries since i was a kid.
I live in Idaho and have always visited a particularly beautiful little cemetary and often visited Ira Noteboom's grave.
I have recently been researching my own ancestors Weisel, Smith, Dockery and Phelps. My husband suggested that I might want tolet people know about Ira's grave since Noteboom is not a very common name in the states. My husband thought someone might be searching for info about him. That is why I put that message up. I am sure I could find out other info though.

Bye Debbie

For years now I have gone to Dry Creek Cemetary just between Eagle and Boise Id. off of Hill Rd. and sat next to a particular gravestone to think. Today when we went there to eat a picnic lunch my husband said "you know you ought to lokk them up and see if anyone is looking for them. so that is what I am doing.

The grave is in the second section up on a hil overlooking the farm area of Boise and the foothills on the north side. It is quiet and beautiful.

The inscription says:

Noteboom (across the top)

Alice
Born Sept. 18, 1887
Died April 15, 1970

Ira
Born July 21,1886
Died May 24, 1968

If anyone is looking for these people let me know maybe I can help.

Debbie
