Hi

I am trying to trace more information about Thomas W Notley whom I believe to be a direct relation on my Father's side. Thomas was born in 1873 in Beer Hackett, Dorset, England.

I am also interested in any information on Walter Notley born Southampton who married Emma.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Patricia Wheeler (nee Notley)

NOTLEY from Blo Norton in Norfolk UK

There are currently at least 9 members including myself researching the surname Notley from in and around the village of Blo Norton, near the Norfolk/Suffolk border. Through my paternal grandmother I am a descendant of Silvanus, a son of William Notley (b.1785).

In the 1841 and 1851 census there were several Notley families living in and near Blo Norton. I have set myself the unenviable, but hopefully satisfying, task of linking them all! I will try to prove, with your help if you are keen, that the following males born in the 18th century are related to each other:

(1) Charles (b. 1797) m. Maria Browning (?)
(2) John (b. 1795) m. Ann Marie Pearce
(3) Samuel (b. abt. 1791) m. Maria Sterry
(4) Thomas (b. abt. 1772) m. Mary Butsey
(5) William (b.1785) m. Mary Lummas [my branch]
(6) Charles (b. abt. 1790) m. Susanna Cooke
(7) Thomas (b. abt.1775) m. Anne Blomfield [probably the parents of (1) and (2)]
(8) Thomas (b.abt. 1760) m. Mary Simper [parents of (5)]

This project will require someone to access information held at Norwich Records Office, particularly the parish records and Bishops Transcripts. Distance prevents me at the moment from undertaking this task. So if any researchers living in or near or visiting Norwich can help I would be most grateful. The results will be shared freely with all interested researchers.

Please let me know if you can help.

Roger
Notley of Gloucestershire and Somerset

I am tracing my great great grandmothers family being Sarah Ann Notley born about 1833 married to William Bartlett. Her father was John Notley b 1809 and married to Mary maiden name not known. They lived in Bedminster Downs though John was born in Redcliffe Bristol, I have their census details but am researching prior to the 1841 census, John and Mary's marriage etc. Sarah Ann eventually came to Birmingham in 1860's after spending some time in Middlesex following her marriage in 1856 which took place in The Parish of Bedminster. On one census 1871 there was mention of a Mary Bird grandaughter staying with Mary and John Notley. Notley children were Hannah, Sarah Ann, John, Emma, Mercy, Ann and Jasper.

NOTLEYS of Leitrim, Ireland

Is anyone researching the Notleys of Leitrim, Ireland? Several Notleys intermarried with my Acheson line and I am trying to get them all in order! The time period is 1800-1850. They also immigrated to Clearfield County, PA (probably at different times) and are found there together.

Ann
