I am trying to track the ancestors of my great great grandfather, William Nott. He was born in Chalgrave, Bedfordshire in c.1794. He and his wife Suzan Tredegar settled in Harpenden as grocers and cattle dealers. His children and grand children became farmers, grocers, drapers, hat manufacturs etc mainly in the Hertfordshire and London area although one son Robert Nott moved to Cheshire and settled there in the Macclesfield district and I believe his children in Ashton upon Mersey. We believe that William Nott's father may have been Samuel Nott and also born in Chalgrave. However we also think the family may have had connections in Herefordshire.
