Obit. Jackie Faye (Baird) Novacek

NOVACEK,JACQUELYNE F. Jackie Faye Baird Novacek, 59, of El Cajon, California went home to be with the Lord on February 21, 2003. She was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on September 11, 1943, the first child to EC and Vera Hazel Baird. Jackie trained as a Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) and served her internship at Daviess County Hospital in Owensboro. In 1964, she married Tom Novacek and they settled in San Diego California where she began her career as a CMT and then as an orthopedic medical office manger for Dr. Haddon Peck where she worked for 18 years until Dr. Peck retired. She then went to work for Dr. Stephen Krant as his office manager/accounts receivable manager until 1998, when she retired for health reasons. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon and was a pre-school board member, and an active participant in the ``Christian Cruisers ' ' a church social group which she had so many loving, caring friends. Jackie was also a past Deacon in the church, volunteering and helping others just came naturally for her and she thrived in her church family. Her Wednesday afternoon quilting group was a source of love and fellowship that was a high point in her week. She also volunteered at Grossmont Hospital where she loved to share her time with others. In 1998, Jackie was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She endured several surgeries and weekly chemotherapy never loosing her good humor and spirit; she was determined to live the rest of her life to the fullest extent, close to her family and her friends. Jackie is survived by Tom her husband of 39 years, her mother Vera Hazel Baird her loving daughter Michelle Novacek of San Diego and her sisters: Kayla Ferrara (nephews Chris and David); Charlotte Gipson (nieces Bobbi Ann and Linda); Dianne Vanover (brother in-law Larry, nephews Austin and Tyler) of Owensboro, Kentucky: Sue Hilton (brother in-law Russ, nephew Keith and grandniece Morghyn) of Portage, Indiana. Her father and brother, Bruce Lee Baird, preceded her in death. Family and friends will remember Jackie ' s love and kindness forever. Her spirit will live on always in the hearts of her loved ones. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon, Children ' s Camp Scholarship fund in Jackie ' s name. A celebration of Jackie ' s life and memorial service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of El Cajon, 500 Farragut Circle, El Cajon, CA.
