Hi Robyn

I am just about to head over seas for 4 weeks, but I will pull out all my research on the family for you when I get back. I did have a photo of Edward Noye/George Robinson, but it may be misplaced. As for the rest of the family, I will need to be careful what I show you for privacy reasons. Are you on facebook?

Kind Regards
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer, Thankyou for your reply. We live in Tasmania, Australia. Allans father was Frank Noye, his father was James Noye, and his father was James Noye too. ( brother to your Edward Noye). Their mother was a convict,Charlotte Noy
and served 7 years in Tasmania. When released she had James Edward and Edward James in Forcett/Sorell . Havent found records of whom their father was, but to hide the convict heritage, they added a "e" to the Noy. Family story says that Edward left Tasmania to fight in the maori wars, and he lived in Poverty Bay, but not sure.
Kind Regards Robyn and Allan

Hi there Robyn and Allan,

Thank you so much for that bit of interesting information.
It really does sound like we are talking about the same person/family.

My husbands name is Edward Noye Robinson, his great grandfather was Edward Noye who moved to New Zealand, changed his name to George Robinson [probably not legally] and married a part maori lady by the name of Hannah Stapleton. They had a son named John who is my husbands grandfather, and he had a son Solomon Robinson who is my husbands father. I will have to dig out my findings to give you more detailed/accurate information. it is stored up in a cupboard, as I gave up researching lol... Please let me kniow if you have any more information. Do you live in the UK or Australia?
Kind regards
Jennifer Chilvers-Robinson (Jensheilynn)
Hi, My partners family is very similiar to your family. Possibly too much of a concidence. The first Noye came to Tasmania as a convict, via the" America". Her name was Charlotte Noy. she had two sons, James Edward and Edward James noye. Edward went to New Zealand and married a mauri lady.Havent been able to find anything out with the New Zealand line. His brother James is my partners great grandfather and settled in Sorell. James married Suzzana Wiggins and had James Edward, Charlotte and Edward James Noye.
Hi there
I was just reading your message to Michelle as I am currently looking for information on a Noye family. Probably just a coincidence of ?"fashionable names at the time", my husbands great grandfather also had a daughter named Charlotte.
His name was Edward Noye.

All we know about him at this stage is that the family started in France as De la Noye, probably fled to England to escape the persecution of french protestants. Edward Noye (my husbands great grandfather) was then born in Cape Town,South Africa in abt 1850`s. He arrived in New Zealand as a "seaman" via "Tasmania Australia". Before arriving in New Zealand, he changed his name to George Robinson. In New Zealand he married a part maori lady by the name of Hannah Stappleton. They had ? number of children. One being Charlotte, and the other "Johnny" (my husbands grandfather).

Is this information of any interest to you? I am trying to find Edward Noye/George Robinson`s parents and siblings etc..
Cheers
Jennifer

Hi Michelle, I don't know if you remember me, but at one time we were e-mailing each other. I was looking for information on my grandfather, William Noye who was born in Cornwall, England about 1834. He moved to Ontonagon, MI where he married Sarah A. Either. She also came from England, but not sure where in England. She was born abt. 1845. At the time that we were e-mailing each other you said your father believe that my great-grandfather may have been a cousin. Unfortunately, my computer at that time crashed and I lost everything on the hard drive, so was unable to get in touch with you again. I am only now beginning to get back to my research again. I also have a grandfather that may have come from Cornwall and married my great-grandfather's daughter, Charlotte.

Do you have any information that might help me? Also would my great-grandfather's line also possibly go back to France and William the Conqurar's time? It is hard to do some research with me living in Hawaii.

I am so glad to be finding you again. Hope all is well.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Teddy
At this stage I have not found a baptism for Robert Noy. I found family information on the net which suggested he was born Sennen, I am looking at Parish Registers from Sennen and Sancreed at the moment but have failed to find him, I will keep looking. I am collecting info re Victor's at Sancreed at the moment. Valerie

I am interested in corresponding with Noye researchers who have ancestors of Cornish descent. My Great Grandfather was William Henry Noye (1857-1923), who lived in Camborne.
