My grandmother on my mother's side was a Nubel. Alice Divita, was Alice Nubel. Her mom and dad was Alice Peterson, and Joseph Nubel. They lived in New York. Brooklyn at first and later to Lynbrook Long Island.... I never knew my great grandparents, but was told about them threw my grandma Alice.... I am trying to keep the history alive. So many things to do... I am searching just like you. I hope this inf. can be of help in your quest. My grandma Alice was the only child of the Nubel's. So I guess with no son to pass the name it stopped with my grandma. Unless Joseph Nubel had a brother and that brother would have had a son.. That I do not know... It will be hard to find out now.
