Hi Long Search
I have spoken with and visited Calvary Cemetery several times. I have also taken pictures of the headstones. We believe that there are a total of 13 people buried there, we can identify 5. I have a cousin that is working with Calvary he is on Long Island.

The baptism records might be a good idea. I'll have to think about the best method to tackle that route.

I have better luck with early passenger arrivals using castlegarden.org. It can be tedious but the information is good.

I enjoy finding different pieces and figuring out how it all came together. I wish I had pictures of some of my female ancestors, is there a family resemblance?

Hope your family search goes well.

Marge Woods

Oh, you have wonderfully organized research on ancestry. Have you pulled any baptismal certs on their children to see if any emigrant Nugent sibs served as godparents (another papertrail to follow)?

She died in 1892, did you order her death cert - or only the index from ancestry?

Love the emigrant bank info w/Westmeath. Can you see her arriving in 1849 (consisted yr of emigration on both accts) on the "American" with any other Nugents? Actualy, I don't see that boat arriving in that time period ... I see a ship called the "Anglo-American" that ran Liverpool to Boston...

83 W 46th Street in 1864
435 7th Ave in 1866

If she arrived in 1849, can you see her in 1850?

Did you phone Calvary for the list of people buried with them, or working from headstones?

If Philip's death cert listed Patrick as his father -- shoud you be looking for John, as Julia's father?

Spouse & Children

Spouse: Philip Glynn 1830 – 1892
Mary Glynn 1854 – 1883
John Glynn 1856 – 1889
Julia Alma Glynn 1858 – 1911
Patrick Glynn 1859 – 1860
Ellen Glynn 1861 – 1911
Annie Glynn 1865 – 1932

NUGENT, DANIEL from Co.TYRONE to Northern England?

Can anyone help me find DANIEL NUGENT please. He was born about 1925 in Co.Tyrone, Northern Ireland the son of Patrick (Paddy Francis) and Mary nee SMALL. It is believed that he went to England and settled in the North, most likely in Co. Durham area. However I cannot find ANY trace of the man. It is likely that he married in the 1950's and rumour has it that his wife was black. (For the 1950's this must have caused difficulties and perhaps that is why his family back in Ireland didn't hear from him.) A sister was notified of his death sometime in the early 1970's.
I am not sure where to look to find records for Daniel.....any ideas gratefully received.

What great info! One of the Nugent cousins went to Ireland in the late 1980's. He photographed many castles standing and some in ruins. I am going in Jan. to do the same. And to find what I can while there.

Tonya

We are thinking of organizing a reunion if we can generate the interest.

Also, I heard that Barney's wife may have descended from a revolutionary soldier. A family member is working on proving it.

Tonya

Re: Nugents of Bayonne

Hello,
I am also related to John Patrick Nugent who married my great aunt, Grace A. Coyle. Grace was his second wife, after Margaret passed away. They were married Feb 21, 1921 in St. Henry's Church in Bayonne, NJ and then took a wedding trip to Ireland. Grace and John founded the Bayone Chapter of the Visiting Nurse Assn in 1921 and Grace remained Chairman of the nursing committee until her death. John died June 14, 1929 after a week's illness with complications. He was born in Cork Ireland to Jeremiah and Catherine (Sullivan) in 1872. He was in his 58th year when he died. He and Grace purchased the former Franklin Estate on sussex Avenue in Morristown, NJ where he lived when he died. John was survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace Coyle Nugent, and six children: Francis, John P. Jr., James Nugent all of Bayonne, and Mrs. George Seymour, Mrs. William Ford and Miss Mary Nugent. He was buried in Holy Name Cemetery in Jersey City, NJ along with his first and second wives and some children, I believe.

Grace had a very interesting history in her own right before she married John and was involved in the Lattimer Massacre which took place in Lattimer, PA near a school house where she was a teacher. The "Guns of Lattimer" tells the story and mentions her specifically as a teacher who came to the miner's aid by ripping her petticoat and bandaging a wounded miner. She was later blackballed from teaching in Pennsylvania and that why she moved to Bayonne, NJ. There were relatives of hers there by the name of Boyle (her mother's brothers).

I have lovely photos of John and Grace and also one with John's daughter Mary with them. I also have a copy of his will and the land description of the "Old Franklin Estate".

I believe I also have a census which states that he was a liquor salesman and also was in Real Estate. I believe he own numerous properties but do not have confirmation of that. Let me know if you are interested in copies of what I have. Good luck with your reseach.

I have a photo taken from microfilm of The Binghamton Press newspaper of Ruth Nugent's 11th birthday on May 16, 1921 that shows several Nugent children.

I also want to know where ebbynugent got the name of Mary Doyle's mother.
Hi Ed
My GG Grandfather was James Nugent. I am aware of three sons, Francis born 1835 (my g grandfather), Edmond and Michael. James was dead by 1856 when Francis married so it looks unlikely that he was the father of the children you mention. I know little about James other than he is named on Francis' marriage certificate as deceased. Do you now which part of Ireland your James came from?

Cheers

Darryl

Hi Robin;
From what I have been able to understand about the three brothers, is one was sent ahead to purchase land and settle it. For he did not have a family.
Upon coming to the USA, they found all the money gone and no place purchased.
This is the place the division came, and the two brothers cut off the one brother. Therefore they added the e to Nugent, making the name spelling Neugent

It looks like this particular line isn't the right one, but that doesn't mean your John and Robert aren't. My Great Grandfather Robert Fulton Nugent was born in about 1840. In one of his children's birth certificates he was listed as being "Schotch."

Ezekiel, Jeremiah, John and Robert F. Nugent

I am looking for Robert Fulton Nugent, who was born around 1840-41 possibly in Indiana or Illinois; also Jeremiah, John and someone named Ezekial, Ezekiel or Exekiel Nugent, possibly brothers.

I have found two documents in which Exekiel and Ezekial appeared with Robert F. Nugent.

One was in Fountain County Indiana Tract Book, where Jeremiah, Robert, "Exekiel" and John Nugent were listed as owning properties in 1822-1828.

The second was in Harris County, Texas, a Texas Probate Notice in the local paper. "Ezekial" was was the petitioner and Robert F. Nugent was listed as having died 12/31/1839.

I'm thinking Robert F. Nugent could be my g-g-grandfather.

My great grandfather is Robert Fulton Nugent. He was in the Tippecanoe IN census in 1860, listed as 20 y/o. He enlisted in the army 1861, age 20. He married Emma or Emily Rank in Indiana in 1867 and had two children the only record of which I can find is the 1870 census in Indiana:Charles and Soffe.

After Emma died he married Harriet Murphy. I have good records after that.

I've found no record with his birthdate or his parents' names. Any help would be appreciated.
