It seems that the first Nuncios in Mexico appear about 1698 in the Yucatan. From there they spread to Zacatecas and Coahuila and then Nuevo Leon. My ancestors came to Saltillo about 1710. This seems to be an earlier migration to cuba then the one you spoke of in your message. Is there any hint of an earlier migration on your side of the ocean?

Thanks,

Esther

Tina,

I have been researching for about 5 years. I have taken my Nuncios back to Juan Nuncio b. abt 1695. Juan married
Juana Sanchez Navarro about 1717. Juana was the daughter
of Marcos Sanchez Navarro and Catarina Flores. Do your
Nuncio line tie to this one? I am tryint to take the line
back further. I wa wondering if you had any success in this
matter?

Sincerely,

Esther A. Herold

You can go to www.familysearch.org and do a search on the IGI databasee for Mexico and Nuevo leon and coahuila and check for him. The Nuncios of Nuevo leon came from Coahuila first.

Esther

Nuncio

Hello Esther, Thank you for the info on the Nuncios. To answer your question "was my father married twice" no my father was only married once at 17 years of age. When he passed away in 1981 he and my mother were married for over 50 years. My grandfather Jacob Nuncio left New Orleans and moved back to his home town of San Antonio, Tx after his wife ( my grandmother ) Rita Dastie died at a young age.my
grandfather who was still a young man at this time could have
possibly remarried and had more children. This all happend before I was born. I was later told that grandfather Nuncio lost his life while working in an aircraft factory that caught fire
or blew up in San Antonio, Tx. I was also told that most of the Nuncios in my family are in San Antonio. My father Andrew John Nuncio was born in New Orleans,La in 1912. So my grandfather must have been born around 1890. ??? I also believe that his father my greatgrandfather Nuncio lived in San Antonio. When I was a child my Nuncio relitives use to write to my father a invite he and my mother to visit them, but by that time my parents had a large family of 6 children and never made the trip. I remember my parents speaking of a Agustin Nuncio also a Jusus Hidalgo. They also spoke of a Jacob Nuncio and a Andrew Nuncio that was somehow related to our family. Oh well I guess that I will just have to take one step at a time and maybe one day I can complete my Nuncio family history. Esther, Thank you again for your help it is certainly appreciated. Estelle

I don't have much info on Grandfather Frank Henry Schlamp or grandmother at present. I did find great-grandfather Henry Schlamp Jr. listed in the 1893 New Orleans City Directory As an Upholsterer 153 Baronne St. and res. at 363 St Louis St. I would love to find out more on grandfather and grandmother as I did not know them , they died before I was born. Please let me know how I can get the Schlamp book and info. Love to all Aunt Estelle.

Dear Esther,

Thankyou very much for the information. I am very familiar with LDS. I have spent the last 13 years looking in the library. I believe I didn't look hard enough, probably because when I started, I began looking on my side and my husbands. I now know better that I should have done one or two families at a time. I will try your suggestion. Your story sounds so exciting, I wish you lots of luck, I am also trying to see where this family goes out of Mexico. Thanks again, Tina

Hi Aunt Estelle, no I did not recieve any mail before this letter. Maybe it is under another heading and I may not have seen it. Well, I am stuck at Pedro Nuncio also with the same date of birth. I do know his wife was Francisca Torres b.April 1868 Texas, her mom and dad were Antonio Torres b.1843 Mexico, and Josefa b.1847 Mexico. In a census I looked up it listed his grandfather on his mothers side as Jose M. Velasquez b.9-14-1815, Saltillo, Mexico. Now if you want information on the Schlamp side, there is actually a book that has information that goes back forever on the Schlamps and Videlange. It even has Andy's first wifes children in it. well, I hope some of this is of intrest to you and helps out. let me know. Take care, love Tina

Hello Estelle, Are you familiar with the Mormon Church? They have the best genealogy library. I don't know if you have one near you but, it is worth its weight in gold to work on genealogy there. I have been doing a lot of work looking up all my information there. Unfortunately, the book was a gift to the Later Day Saints church of Mormons in Salt lake City and can only be viewed by film which you have to check out at the library. It takes about three weeks for the film to arive after ordering. The book is 400 pages long and each page is 25 cents to copy on the special machine. Long story short, I have the book on perminent loan at the library 25 miles from me and am copying it very slowly, the library only lets you copy 25 pages a day. I can then go to a comercial copy place and make a copy for you too if you would like. It would be much cheaper at a copy place.
Now, I have your GGrandfather Frank Henry Schlamp b.1878 N.O.,LA, Married Marie Bernadette de Voison 8-27-1898 N.O., LA, d.4-6-1944 N.O., LA. Marie was b.1803, d.12-26-1940, His father is Henry Schlamp jr. b.1850-55 in New Bamberg, Germany. I have sooooo much more for you. Is it possible to mail you copies of what I have. I have census records, birth records, marriage, death....The good thing about the german records is they are from the west side and the east side records are completly destroyed from WWII. So there is a lot still to be looked up. I just haven't had time this past last year because I am in Paramedic school and it has been hard. I don't just go by what people tell me in the genealogy, I always have proof by a certificate or old record. well let me know and I will chat with you later. love Tina

I was looking through the mail lkist for Nuncio when I saw your referance to the Schlampp name. I married an Rita Nuncio in New Orleans on Dec.I965. Her mother was called Schlampp. My twins are buried in the Schlampp plot in Greenwood Cemetry. My in-laws, Andre Nuncio and his wife lived in Mandeville,Louisiana. My daughter Cheryl is married to one Danny Gautreau from Gonzales,Louisiana and they live in Prairieville,Louisiana. I hope to be over there for my grand-sons First Communion come May 5.My sister-law was called Deloris Nuncio who I believe lives in Pheonix,Arizona. The names Tim and Mellisa ring a bell. The namee Fisher from Mandeville I believe phoned me many years ago trying to trace his daughter.I believe the mother was Deloris. She gave two of her children up for adoption, somthing we Irish would never do.Maybe there is some connection.I hope my information has been of some help to you. Yours Eoghion Sean UiCurrain,Edinburgh,Scotland

Tina,

I still think that the Nuncio's are all related
and that we will eventually tie. My Nuncios
appear in 1710's in Saltillo. I still have
not been able to determine where they came
from. My wife and I have been researching the history of the Nuncio family and I feel that we could learn a great deal from each other. My e-mail is zachary.ferreira@pyxis.com and my home e-mail is zferreira@ixpres.com

I look forward to hearing from you!
