My name is Yvonne and I live in the UK. My father was born in Jamaica in 1932 and is know as Eustace Nunes a.k.a. Chisholm. His father name was George Nunes who was married to Christie Gayle. They lived in Blue Mountain. I believe that the Nunes clan is very big with an interesting. Is there a link. I know that there were some half brothers to this family.

Sorry, Nunes surname did not originate from Israel.

"Nunes" originates from the first name Nuno which has zero linkage to Israel.

Also, Nuno originated from a Romance Language, so I fail to see how it can be tied to the Middle East.

There are many people in the state of New Mexico with Spanish surnames that are finding out they come from a Jewish background.
Does anyone know Nance Nunes of California?

Hi all!

My name is Ruby Stewart and I am looking for any information regarding Nance Catherine Nunes. I know she was born in California and I believe she was born in 1957. She is my birth mother and she was 16 when I was born. I know she lived in Oxnard, California during part of the 70's before moving to Camarillo, Ca. I do remember when I was little, she lived with her mother and brother. My father told me that at one point she may have been a teacher in Camarillo as well. I have reason to believe that she may have moved up north to the Sacramento area, but I'm not sure. If anyone has any info, please let me know. Thanks.

Re: Nunes of Jamaica

My father was Humphrey Nunes, born in Hammersmith London,1906 as was his father, Anthony Bird Nunes, 1851 (I think) - Family lore was always a connection with Jamaica though no proof, until I acquired the marriage certificate of William George Nunes (father of Anthony) - his first marriage to a Mary Macdonald on the Isle of Wight in the 1790s. His profession was listed as 'Colonial Office Jamaica'. I note from Ancestry that there is record of a Jacob Franco Nunes in the record of Persons of Quality in Virginia in 1623. I appear unable to access this list, but perhaps I am note searching correctly.
Jacina Bird (nee Nunes)
I add that my husband is no connection with the Bird Nunes of my grandfather
