Hi Richard, I am researching my husband's mother's family. We know her mother's name was Artell Nylander and married Charles Board. I found an Artell Harmon listed on the 1920 Census along with Norris Nylander, Albert B. Nylander. Cora Hughes is also listed. Through some research I found a Cora Nylander Hughes and in trying to figure out who is who I am wondering if Artel had been born to Cora so young that her parents adopted her baby(she is listed as adopted on the census). We know that Artell married at the age of 14 and had only the one child Christine Board. But she also died very young when Christine was still a child. This family is such a mystery to me. I would love to know if your Nylander family is related.

Update: my NYLANDER family is now connected, all settled in Sheffield, Warren Co., PA. in the 1880's : Charles and Emma LINDGREN (Nellie, George, Rosa, Ester and Mabel) and Mathilda and Gustaf LIND (Charles J, Oscar F, Edith and Mabel) and one sister, Emma Kristina LARSSON with an extensive family in Sweden. Let me know if you have a connection to this NYLANDER family, want to share what I have with you.

Hi Richard, My grandmother was Augusta Gertrude Nylander and her father was John A Nylander from Sweden born in 1855, and he married Sarah M Taylor. They also had a son named Albert born in Mississippi. I was wondering if this maybe your Albert?

DOD Identifies Air Force Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the deaths of eight airmen who were supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

They died April 27, at the Kabul International Airport, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered from gunfire. The incident is under investigation.

August 3, Submits a Bullom Dictionary

June 1, 1811 Marries Ann Beberith
April 1812 – Moves to Yangroo, Bullom Shores
April 26, 1813 –, Submits Bullom grammar and vocabulary, receives and protects rescued slave children
May 9, 1814 – Bullom grammar and vocabulary are in print, Oct 26 Bullom New Testament are advancing.

I came across this book on Google with the history of the CMS in Sierra Leone

It has G.R. Nylander's age as 29 at the time he was selected to serve a mission in Africa. He was married in Sierra Leone to Phillis Hazley who died at age 22 and then later to Ann Beberith.

The name Nylander is found in Sweden, Norway, Germany and England. It is also a Dutch word for inhabitant or inhabitant of new land.

I are Nylanders that are in Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Minnesota Whom are related to me by blood. Yes, My great-grandfather is from Sweden, that is where the Nylanders' names originated from. anyway, my great-grandfather went to Sierra Leone(west Africa). to explored Africa. There were he fall in love with a chief's daughter and he Married her and they had a lot of children. one of them was my grandfather name Solomon Nylander who was borned 1900. He left Sierra Leone, and went to Liberia were he also married and came one of his children whom is my father.This is the story that was told to me.

Hi Ladi,

Interestingly I went to Ghana in 1993 and a number of people mentioned to me there that my name was Ghanian - I was a curiosity because I was the first white Nylander that they had seen. Unfortunately I could not catch up with any of my namesakes whilst in Ghana, but I would have liked to.

For your information my great grandfather Carl Augustus Nylander jumped ship in Melbourne, Victoria, in the 1860's and settled in country Victoria where I was born in 1948. He was Swedish, and I think that this is where most of the Nylanders come from. I was told by a Swede some years ago that we came from Finland during a very bad climatic period and were known as new landers - hence Nylander. I don't know whether this is true or not though.

Hjalmar Nylander was born in 1895 in Koge Demark.

Hjalmar came to the United States in 1921
He left a Wife name unknown. His father was G. Nylander

Nylander from Helgum Sweden

Hi I am looking for my Grandmothers uncles family...

His name was Per Johan Nylander
He was born 13 May 1873 in Sweden.
He was married with
Brita Johanna Strid
Born 1876
They had one daughter I know of, her name was
Dagmar Emilia
She was born 1900 in Sweden as well.
So sometime after 1900 they moved somewere in north America.
So does annyone know about him and his family!?
I would appriciate all information I can get.

No...the Inga Helena that I have in my records was born in Sweden. I have forgotten the date, but I posted it in Rootsweb.com. Once she came to the United States, I have no record of her or mention of her in any family documents.

I'm seeking information on a Christine Nylander and her husband Magnuson Peterson or perhaps Peter Magnuson Peterson. They were married somewhere in Sweden some time between 1863 and 1868. Magnuson Peterson may have died before the family came to America. Eventually, most of the children from that union settled in and near Phelps County, Nebraska. Any information would be appreciated.

My grandmother's name: Rosa Eleanora Nelson
Her children before my grandpa Andreas
Helmer and Myrtle (which have passed on)
Grandma's last husband's name was Scammel
Great-Grandmother: Ingrid Magnuson
Great-Grandfather: Lars Nelson
