Matt Nyman married Sanna Koski about 1915 and they were residents of Wakefield, Michigan. Perhaps Matt and John are related.
I find Matt and Sanna Nyman in the 1920 census but the children's names are hard to decifer from the online records. Two children according to my Mother were Waino (aka Wayne) and Elsie. I have also found a record for an Ellen Nyman, daughter of Sanna Nyman, married to Nick Kovacevich. This could be the daughter Mom thought was named Elsie.
There is a 1910 census for a Matt Newman and wife Susan in Wakefield which also may be them.
Matt Nyman was 46 in 1920 and his wife Sanna was 34.
The Koski family came from Myllykoski, Mettalan, Ylistaro, Vassa, Finland. I am not sure about the Nyman family.
Another interesting connection is the surname of Tyni as my Mother had Tyni cousins in Barron County, Wisconsin--Nels, John, and George who are with their mother Lizzie (Elizabeth Tyni) in 1920. The surname Tyni is not very common. What I was told by my aunts is that their grandmother's brother was Mr. Tyni. This I have not verified.
I am just now trying to piece this family together.
