Hi Bill,
Thanks for the response, but unfortunately, my Oakley - Hutson connection goes back to 1869 in Norfolk County, England when James Oakley of Stow Bedon married Elizabeth Hutson from Hockham.
Ron

Hello:
I am responding to your post because I am an Oakley and a Hutson. I have not seen this combination before and am wondering if we have a connection. My father was an Oakley and I can trace his line back to Jeremiah Oakley in New Jersey. My mother is a Hutson and I trace her back to a John Hutson in Virginia born in 1801.
If any of this rings a bell I would love to hear from you.
Best
Bill

Hello Ellen Joyce,

We are family!!! My ggrandmother is Maryellen Oakley Mcgrath of old forge, Pennsylvania. She was married to Michael Mcgrath. My mother's name was Jean Marie and she lived in the family homestead on Mary Street, Old Forge. She was extremely close to her and when she passed on my mother was only 15 at the time, but she was gifted her wedding band. I have pictures of her on her wedding day and we still have the ring. It is the most special thing that my mother ever owned. Other than having her family.

Please I hope that you read this soon. I am trying so hard to get in touch with you. I am only trying this on a trial basis to look for family in Ireland and I on have another 13 days left.

I really hope to hear from you. I created a family ancestry book for my niece. I have a lot of old black and white pictures of the house on Mary street. I also have a picture of Annie Oakley my gggrandmother. I think that you would enjoy seeing that.

Barb

Mosey/Moses in England?

Just curious if anyone's done the genealogy as far back as England. If you look on the IGI most Moseys seem to be in Yorkshire. Which is the earliest emigrant Mosey ancestor of Annie? Does anyone know? I'm curious as I'm a Mosey descendent from Yorkshire, UK and my family also seem to have changed the spelling or had it changed for them, to 'Moses' by the early 19thC. But throughout the 17thC and 18thC it was clearly 'MoseY'. It is such an unusual name in the UK I have to wonder if we're related?

Donna,

Thanks for the reply. I am from Lackawanna County, PA so we are not too far apart. My great-grandfather was Jeremiah Oakley (Isaac's son). Which of Isaac's children are you descended from?
Most of the info I have to date is on Isaac's children, grandchildren, etc. I still haven't found anything on his parents or earlier. I would love to share any info w/you. It is always great to be in contact with another Oakley relative (there certainly are enough of us!) I look forward to hearing from you,
Cherie

Unfortunately, I don't remember seeing their obituaries but the name Leon does sound familiar. You are right that there must be a connection between your research and mine. So far I've found that most Oakleys in this area are related somehow. If you would like to email me with the Oakley's you are related to then maybe we can find the connection. My email is johncherie2003@yahoo.com. I am excited to see where it all fits in.

Cherie

Janet,

I cannot say I am 100% sure as to Ann being her middle name. "Ruth Ann Oakley" is what my aunt told me. Ask your mother if she remembers a Delores or Lois growing up. Did your mother grow up in Ann Arbor? I assume that Oakley is your mother's maiden name...

Sharon

Cherie...I got into your Oakleys because my Oakleys lived in the same place as Isaac and Hiram [Harford]. Isaac and Hiram were from NY as my early Oakleys were, then they also came to Susquehanna Co. I'm willing to bet that there is a connection somewhere. I've been contacted by Oakleys from several other states and, lo, we connected. I'm not giving up! The recent deaths of 2 Oakley men descended from Isaac and Hiram caught my attention. You MUST be related to them. Did you see their obituaries?

What a surprise to find someone seeking info on the very person I'm after, Isaac Oakley. I've been trying to find his parents for years to determine his probable ties to the Westchester group. I always follow-up on Oakley obituaries in my area and lately there have been two: Leon J. and Eugene E. BOTH are descended from Isaac and his son Hiram. I'm an Oakley from Susquehanna Co., PA and would love to share info.

Donna
