Looking for information on the Oates children living with Thomas Edwards in 1870 Cross Roads, Pike Co., AL

Nancy and Mary are his daughters (source 1850/60 Pike Co., Al census)
The other Oats children are suspected to be grandchildren.
Does anyone know if there is a connection between William Dawson Oates who married Elizabeth Edwards in Autauga Co., AL? Or the William and Sarah (Sellers) Oates that are living next door to Thomas Edwards in 1870 Pike Co., AL?

Karyn: I don't know if I ever replied or not, but my Jacob was b. abg. 1784 and he married Elizabeth Slonaker in 1809 in Hampshire Co., WV. They had 2 kids, I think, and he died after 1860 in Frederick Co, VA. Elizabeth was b. 16 Aug. 1788. If this links, let me know and perhaps we can swap info. I would need a mailing address though. Hi, I have this much information to give. Hope it helps some. I live next door to Janet & we are related somehow thru the Oates side. I am trying to track down how. My grandfather was an Oates & married an Oates. Said they checked back as far as they could and weren't related. But I don't know who my ggg grandfather is on my grandma's side. Her Father's name was John Christopher Oates & married Isabella Mauzy Oates. Any help would be appreciated. Hope this helps you though.

William (1871-????) is the brother of Richard Thomas Oates (1856-1921) of St. Just Cornwall England and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

William Oats born abt. 1870 in St. Just (Kelynack), Cornwall (fact). Youngest son of Richard Jeffery Oats and Elizabeth Trembeth (fact). Listed as border of the Harvey family of Queen Street St. Just (fact) and probably worked as an apprentice baker for Mr. Harvey (assumption).

Recently found in the 1901 UK Census as now married to Ellen (????) Oats and a daughter Rebecca (fact). If anyone has any further information on William Oats, baker of St. Just, I would appreciate and gladly accept your help.

HAZEL GREEN, KY: Pamela K (Oates) Coverstone, 59, of Hazel Green, KY died June 29,2012 at home unexpectantly.

She was born February 9, 1953 in Ross County, Ohio to the late James (Frank) and Esta B. Mason Oates.

She is survived by her husband Carl; Surviving are sisters, Betty Oates, Jean Oates, Beverly (Bill) Tyo, Carolyn (Henry) Barlage all of Chillicothe, Ohio; brothers, Jim F Oates of Chillicothe, Larry Oates of Oberlin, OH and Deen (Alice) Oates of Allen, Texas; sisters-in-law, Beulah (Sis) Oates and Wanda Oates; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by sisters Peggy Conley, Nikki Oates, and Nancy Oates; and brothers A. Olin, Clarence (Pickle), Donald, Norvel, and William Oates.

Pamela graduated in 1971 from Huntington High School and served in the Navy.

She was cremated according to her wishes.
No visitation or calling hours will observed. Ashes will be scattered at families discretion.

She will be missed by family and friends.

As an adult he was married to Alice Elizabeth Rohr, and his second wife was Mary Frances, unknown surname. He lived in Philadelphia, PA with wife Mary at one time. Any help would be appreciated. OATES-EATWELL At the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Eatwell, north of Longmont Tuesday at high noon. Nicholas Thomas Oates and Miss May Florence Eatwell, Rev. Jas McLaughlin ?? (can't read) of St. Stephen's church officiating.
With the exception of Mr. and Mrs. Ely of Longmont, and Mr. and Mrs. Strand, neighbors of the Eatwell's, the company consisted of the sons and daughters and grandchildren of Mr. and Mrs. Eatwell. There were present Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Eatwell, and Mrs. Albert Eatwell all of Black Hawk. Colorado; Mr. and Mrs. Davis of Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Oxnam of Nevada.
Miss Georgiana Oates, sister of the groom, was the bridesmaid and Frank Eatwell, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Eatwell were groomsman. The grand daughter, pretty little Vanola Oxnam was ring bearer and carried the ring in a large callalilly.
The grandparents may well be proud of such a family, for they were all living examples of the sturdy John, himself, and partook heartily of the bountiful wedding dinner which was set before them.
Mr. and Mrs. Oates journeyed to Bald Mountain the same day, with the very good wishes of their numerous friends, where they make their future home.

Ron I have most of Dads old photos if you want them they are already scanned in. I think the lady at the Balmorhea Library can really help here as my Uncle Jay Oates took alot of things over there where he did research and they ahve a book or used of nothing but Oates. Within the last say 200 years there are four different William Brawley Oates I know of. It makes matters worse because they often just go by William Oates or Brawley Oates in some places even Bill Oates. The ones I know of are William Brawley Oates my Uncle deceased in the 1900's grave in Balmorhea Cemetery Balmorhea Texas, my g grandfather WIlliam Brawley Oates married to Elizabeth birth was Kings mountain, Cleveland North Carolina 1836 and buried in Fairview Wilson County Texas 1898, then according to the Reeves County Courthouse records there is a William Brawley and a Brawley Oates. This is probably late but seems like there were several Barlows in the Balmorhea Cemetary. I can remember Dad speaking of a Louise but now much about it other than that. Hope this helps. Would love ot connect on the Oates families as I am the next to last generation so far for John Ernest Oates. No tho I have no doubt they were related as my Grandpa traveled herding cattle all over the place in Texas and New Mexico I know of. My Dad was John Ernest Oates son of John Gerard Oates and then he was son to William Brawley Oates (Dad also had a brother named WIlliam Brawley Oates and there are two others I know of and countless John Oates! It is quite likely because Dad said that we traveled all over, well Grandpa did with herding cattle. I knew we came from back Eat and yes Dad said we had Doctors, Lawyers, as well as outlaws, gamblers ect in the family. I remember him speaking the name of Ephriam and it seems like I remember there are several Shipps in the Balmorhea cemetery. Check www.findagrave.com Balmorhea and Pecos have lots of them in there. From what Dad told me Florence was well liked in teh family. I am sorry that is all I remember but there may be more history at the Balmorhea library because the lady there that runs it knew our family well from wayyyyy back...think someone said she even moved there when we did. There are about 3 or 4 William Brawley oates in our family and so many Johns and Thomas that is why people are having so much trouble but I will try best I can to give you lineage starting from me back.

I think there is more history for him in the courthouse in Pecos Texas also. There are alto of the Oates in West Texas as they traveled this way. Grandpa John Gerard Oates (brother to William Brawley who married Elizabeth) used to herd cattle from that way.
