The 1850 Federal census for Barnwell District, SC, lists this household (Page 415, Household #1450): Samuel 30, Rebecca 25, Valey 15, Green 11, William 9, Samson 7, Fanny 5, Louis 4, and Beaufort 2. Although descendents of Thomas and Fanny (Jennings) O'B lived all over Barnwell Co, no connection has been found between Samuel's family and the other Barnwell O'Bannons. Rebecca, the wife, was a Cherokee, and her gravestone in Aiken Co, SC states she was b. 8 May 1813 and d. 28 Dec 1890 in Aiken Co, SC. I suspect Samuel was closer her age than stated on the 1850 census. No one in this family has turned up in the indexes to subsequent censuses (not surprising considering the sloppy indexing sometimes done by online genealogy services. So...WHO were the PARENTS of this Samuel, and where did this family go after 1850?
