POW/MIA Korean War OBERDORF

I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Montour County, Pennsylvania as his home of record.

Soldier: CHARLES ABRAHAN OBERDORF
Born: 1925
Date of loss: November 27, 1950
RA33612224
E Co 35th Inf Rgt, 25th Inf Division

When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located.

When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.

I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

Harold Davis
40th Infantry Division
Korea ’52-‘53
910-791-2333
hgdavis@bellsouth.net
Donna, I believe I am a decendant as well. I am the gggg granddaughter of John Overturf and have heard this story all my life. I believe his brothers were Jacob with his wife and child Caspar 12; Johann Christoph 5; Catharina 7 and Adam with his wife, Anna Magdalena and 3 children. I haven't found anything yet on the 3 children. They came from Germany. My mother was Gladys Armonia Overturf; her father, Henry Bascom Overturf, grandfather, Henry Lee Overturf of Grundy County TN. There are so many Overturf's. I hope this helps you a little even if it is not the same family of Overturf's. You may email me at rileydaisy@aol.com anytime.
Beverley
Oberdorf / Overturf

Henry Oberdorf/Overturf was born about 1761 in Germany. He came to America in the late 1700's with his father, 2 brothers and a sister who was blind. His father was a Lord in Germany, and was killed on the ship to America, his chests of gold and fine clothes were stolen, and he was presummed thrown overboard. The two youngest boys were 'bound out' as there was no adoption in those days, and the eldest boy (16 years old) was told to go where he wanted with his sister.
Henry married Maria Chute, and had 6 children in Union County, PA (the eldest child, Samuel was my Great, Great Grandfather). Any info. on Henry's father or siblings will be greatly appreciated.
I can be reached at doerv@yahoo.com
