According to my grandmother (Ices Hall) she threw all of them out of the house saying she was not going to raise another womans children. As I understnad it Daisy was about 9 at the time. Also note Louisa Lowe was also known as Louisa Lowe-Fronsman. Her siblings apparently used: Fronsman, Lowe, Lowe-Fronsman and Fronsman-Lowe. How can we keep track of these people if they don't even know their names...sure can be confusing.

That is young to get married for these days.

Maria had so many different names, I've even seen records where her name is Mona. Her maiden is Yokum and she married William Curtis in 1891 and had two sons. One of her sons married Daisy Ocheltree (Joseph's oldest daughter with Louisa Lowe) She also remarried after Joseph to J. Henry Upole in 1925. From the stories I've heard she was pretty cruel to her step children.

Hello Michael, Joseph H Ocheltree is my great-great grandfather on my mothers side. Her mother was Marie Sue Ocheltree born 1903.

Here is the info I have for Nellie Margaret Ocheltree:

She was born Jan. 24, 1909 to Joseph H. Ocheltree and May (Yokum)Curtis/Ocheltree/Upole in Harrison Co. WV
Nellie married Carl E. Pitts on Oct. 9, 1926 in Harrison Co. WV. They had 2 children as far as I have found:
1. Nellie Margaret Pitts b-Mar 20, 1927 d-Mar 20, 1927
2. Patricia Ann Pitts b-abt 1930
Married Clarence David Morris Jr. on Feb 10, 1950

Nellie M. Ocheltree/Pitts died on Mar 11, 1931 and is buried at Greenlawn Cememtery, Harrison Co. WV (Burial was on the 14th)

Carl E. Pitts then marries Texie Vivian Shreve on Mar 31, 1934 in Harrison Co. WV. His parents are Charles Leander Pitts and Cora Matthews (married 1904 in Tyler Co. WV)

Hope this helps in your research!

Ronda DeMeester

Hi, I am distantly related to the Ocheltrees. Bert was the son of Robert Renick Ocheltree, born June 5, 1855 in Iowa. Renick was the great-grandnephew of my g-g-g-grandfather. (Told you it was distant!) Since Ocheltree is such an unusual name, I have been researching this family line on and off for the past 8 years. Bert had 7 brothers and sisters. I would love to exchange info!

An idea might be the Quickle/Persinger cemetery near Burnsville. I was able to find many of my Persinger ancestors here, and since they lived in the same area (Bulltown), they might be buried in the same place. I noticed some stones with the Blake name when I visited there. It's on a hill just below the Burnsville Lake Dam. They also told me that a lot of graves were moved when the Burnsville Lake was put in.
I am not familiar with that book. I have been trying to research this line and go back as far as I can. What I know is my ggrandmother was Sarah Rebbecca Ocheltree, daughter of John & Lucinda (Blake) born 1867, Braxton,West Virginia, died 1953, Madison County, Ohio. Married to Wade Persinger abt 1890. I believe that Lucindas father was Hugh Blake, since I found a deed where he conveyed property to her. I also saw that she had a sister named Millie who was living with her and John in the cencus records. If you have any information that will help me go back further, I'd appreciate it.

Yes, we have a match. Bert Ocheltree was my husband's great grandfather. Bert never married Ivy Magill, and my husband's grandfather went by Elmer LeRoy Magill. Bert never claimed Elmer as his son, however Bert's brother raised Elmer as a nephew, and Bert's nephew Robert Ocheltree grew up with Elmer as cousins.

If you would like to exchange information, please let me know. My email is harrysheilamyers@msn.com. My husband grew up in Myrtle Point, OR, and family still live there.

Thank you,

Sheila Nash-Myers

LuRose,
I just have a few questions. You mentioned that Isaac Clutter's father, (Isaac Sr.)
was your grandfather several generations removed. First, my dumb question--what is 'several times/generations removed'??
Second, it looks like we follow the same lineage ,however,
I show that Isaac Ocheltree (father of Harrison Ocheltree) was the grandfather of Isaac Clutter Ocheltree. These are my great-great to great-great-great-great grandfather(could this be where the 'removed' comes in??) So in short (or long), my line goes....Isaac Ocheltree, father of Harrison Ocheltree, father of Isaac Clutter Ocheltree, father of Joseph Hooker Ocheltree, father of William Floyd Ocheltree, father of Dennis Floyd Ocheltree, who is my father. Interested in knowing the connections.
Dorothy Denise Ocheltree Anderson

(July 10, 1820-March 28, 1891) A native of North Carolina, Hugh Ochiltree migrated to Texas in 1840. Settling first in Nacogdoches, he studied law in the office of his cousin William Beck Ochiltree, who became a prominent Justice and Texas statesman. In 1843 he moved to San Augustine, where he married Margaret Ann McKnight. During the Mexican War, Ochiltree volunteered for service and participated in the Battle of Monterrey. Shortly after the war he moved to Sabine Pass and operated a warehouse business with John G. Berry. In 1852 Ochiltree moved to Madison, now Orange. Here he established a mercantile and later developed a commission business in cotton, sugar, and molasses. His wife died in 1855 and the following year he wed Mary Josephine Shaw. An active Mason and a charter member of Madison lodge No. 126, Ochiltree was also a leader in public service. He served as Madison's first postmaster, as an Orange County Commissioner, and as county clerk. In addition, he was instrumental in the support of deep water ports on the Sabine and Neches rivers. During the Civil War he was provost marshal of Orange. His active leadership was vital to the early growth and development of the city.

luhickey@austin.rr.com

I still don't know where James or Hannah were buried, but I did find out that on some of the children's death records, Hannah is listed as "Hannah Blake", which means she must have married a Williams before she married James/Jamison Ocheltree. As well, I found out that Hannah married Hyer Dennison (aka Hezekiah Dennison) in 1885 in Braxton County. If anyone has any further information, it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, there was a Hannah Blake who married Isaac Ocheltree. This is a different Hannah. She would have been married the first time and second time in Greenbrier County, then moved to Braxton County after the death of James Ocheltree, who was the son of Alexander Ocheltree and Rebecca (aka Reborah) Blake.
