I am still searching for information about my family. I have been able to piece a few things together, but I have no idea if it is accurate.
This is all coming from online reasearch, with only a name - Frank Ockenfels. My family never talked about him, and research has proved to be almost impossible, so any information would be incredible!
Here is what I "know":
Frank Ockenfels (my great great grandfather), born approx 1835, married to Mary Ockenfels, born approx 1839. Moved to Lithuania from Germany, then immigrated to the US from Lithuania in approx 1866. They had had 4 children, Mary, Frank Jr., Annie, & Joseph (all born here, except Mary) They settled in Detroit and Frank worked as a grocer, and passed away somewhere between 1880 and 1900. Joseph became a fireman, and rumor has it there is a firehouse somewhere in Detroit with his name on a plaque. Frank Jr. became a printer/pressman and most likely worked for the Detroit Free Press.
Frank Jr. is my great grandfather. He started a family in Detroit with a wife Anna, had 3 children Herbert, Marie, Genevieve. At some point he left this family, and married my great grandmother who's name was also Anna. She was born approx 1901, I don't know her maiden name, but died as Anna Novak in 2001. They had two children, Marvin and Benedict. Benedict was my grandfather, he passed in 1989. At some point Frank Jr. and Anna also split up, and I have no idea where he went after that, but I have heard he started another family, possibly in Ohio.
I do have direct relatives living in Youngstown, Ohio.
If anyone has ANY information about this line of Ockenfels I would like to know! Even if it proves my theory wrong, at least I will know that this isn't correct, and I can start from scratch.
