I have a John Odgen who was married to a female Barrett. The family story says that her father would only let them marry if he changed his name to Barrett.

I am descended from their son Charles Barrett who was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in about 1833.

I have Charles in the 1861 and I have his marriage certificate but have no more information on him! His wife and son are in the 1871 and she is listed as a widow = so I presume that he has died (though I haven't traced his death certificate yet....despite numerous purchases of certificates!!).

On Charles marriage certificate it states that his father is John Odgen who's profession is listed as a Miller.

If anyone has come across this family and has any further information to help me in my search it would be great!!
