My grandma had an "Elke" spelling for Frank Oren Elke from the Minneapolis area. He moved out to Thief River Falls where he had a barber shop and ultimately ended up killing himself due to the dementia in 1921.

I am looking for any information on my GGGgradfather Carl Friedrick Wilhelm Schulz, he was born in Germany C.1860's & came to Australia with his parents when he was approx 6 years old. He married Wilhelmine Caroline Mathias in Queensland Australia 1888 & some of the childrens names are Else, Edward(my GGgrandfather), (Wilhelmine)Justine, John, Hermann, Lydia, Rebecca & Ada. Anyone who could help if any of these names look familiar. I would love to find out what ship he arrived on & what his Parents names are.

My Mother was an Oehlke, who was born in Lewisville,
TX. Her parents were Wilhelm(Wm.)Oehlke and Hattie
Gollnick. Wilhelm had a brother Gustov(Gus) who had
several children. One was named Paul, don't guess
you would be that Paul? I just inherited some old
family pictures, and several were for Uncle Gus''s
family. I have a lovely wedding picture for a Paul Oehlke
and Claudia.

Looking for info regarding my mat ggfather, Louis A (Alfred?) LARSEN, b. 6 SEP 1889, d. FEB 1984. Lived in Michigan most of his life. Was married to Rose OEHLKE and had at least 1 son, Alfred Gunder LARSEN b. 21 JUN 1913, d. 12 FEB 1994.

Louis worked for the Postal service in Manistee, MI. after suffering an accident that left him deaf in one ear.

Were there any other children born of this marriage? Louis later remarried to a woman named Anna, with whom he had no other children.

I am also interested in any information concerning the OEHLKE line. Rose's mother's name may have been Pauline.

Paul, I also think there were several Oehlke families coming
thru NY that split up into diff. areas. Our Wilhelm Oehlke family came in 1884, and came on down to TX. There were
several families in his group, including my G.Uncle, Gottfried
Mortiz. I read with interest your Minnisota Oehlkes lived in a
village not too far from Frankford on Oder River. My Oehlkes'
came from Isinger, now in Poland & called Nieborowo. I think
it was on the Oder Rv. I believe all the Oehlkes that came
from Germany, must be kin in some way. I would like to get
in touch with a branch of our Oehlkes.

I am interested in finding other Oehlkes. I have been told that
if you find another Oehlke with the same spelling, you must
be kin. My Mother was an Oehlke, her Father was William
Oehlke who came with his parents Wilhelm & Regina Schuen
emann, he b. 1845 Isinger, Germany, she b.1846 same town
MyG.Fathers siblings were Henry Robert, Gustav Adolph, &
Martha Amanda Rosa. They lived in S.TX for awhile, then
moved to Denton Co., TX for remainder of their lives. I feel sure
the Oehlkes in the N. must be kin to us. We never knew any
of my G.Grandfather Wilhelms' siblings.
I would be interested in pursueing other Oehlkes to see if we
all match up.
We are going to Poland to Isinger(now Nieborowo)in Aug. Want to see areas of where Grandfather Oehlke came from,
& also my Grandmother & family who lived in Stettin(now in
Szczecin Poland)

DO YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON FREDERICK OEHLKE WHO MARRIED AUGUSTA GUNDLACH IN GERMANY IN 1860 THEY HAD 4 CHILDREN. BERTHA 1866, HERMAN 1862,ANNA LOISA 1864 AND GUSTAV 1869
THEY SETTLED IN NORTH DAKOTA.

Glen Oehlke is a cousin of mine. His father, David Oehlke, was a brother to my grandfather, William Oehlke. I don't have a lot of information on him but could perhaps get more. I know there are members of my family who would know more about him and his family. I remember meeting Glen and his wife Inez a number of times at various family functions. Oehlke was my Fraternal, GGrandparents name. My maternal
G.Grandparents were Gollnicks. My l GGrandmothers', Father
& Mother were Moritz. Don't know her Fathers given name,
but think her Mothers name was Emilie Moritz.Oehlkes came
to USA in 1886, Gollnicks came 1892. I am guessing Emelie
Moritz would have been abt 50 when dau. & family sailed, so
she would have been b. abt 1840/42. I have a pic of Emelie
Moritz, does anyone know a site to post pic, to see if any-
one would recognize it? We know we have family left in Ger-
many(Poland)would like to locate them.

Caroline Oehlke married Julius Dalluge in Germany

Stuck....Am hunting for the parents of Caroline Oehlke, who was born in Germany in November 1824. She married Julius Dalluge in Germany, and emigrated to the United States sometime after 1885. They had at least one son, Albert C. Dalluge, who lived in Minnesota and California.

I talked with Inez Oehlke last week. She was able to shed some light on my missing information.

Glen and Inez adopted two children. Their biological father was also an Oehlke. I have yet to figure out the relationship. Any ideas?

I have a relative, Kathryn H Heinbuch (1895 - 1962) that married David F Oehlke (1895 - 1960). They had two children, Dorothy V Oehlke (1922 - 1968) and Glen David Oehlke (1919 - 2000). Dorothy married and had four boys, Dudley, Daryl, Charles and Rick. Glen married and adopted two children, one boy Vernon and one girl Janet. (The two children are somehow related as their biological father was also named Oehlke.)

Any connections with anyone out there? If so, please let me know.

When I read your message, I became very excited. You see, my great-great-grandfather migrated to Minnessota from Canada after leaving Germany in the late1800's.
The only thing is that his last name had an extra "H". It was spelled Hoehlke.
Do you think that we share a common relative? If so, please let me know. As it is, Paul Hoehlke was dropped on this planet with no family at all save a sister in Canada.

My name is David Oakley. My grandfather's name was Herman Oehlke and although he was born in England his father came to England from Hamburg, Germany sometime in C19th.

Saw your inquiry about Oehlke's. My Mother was Erna Oehlke, b. in 1911 to Hedwig(Hattie)Gollnick & Wilhelm M.
Oehlke. Wm. was b. 12/29/1883 Isinger,Pyritz,Pommern,
Germany. He,siblings,Mother & Father came to US in 1884.
His fathers name was also Wilhelm, b. 1845 same area.
Mother was Regina Schunemann b.1874.They had 5 ch.
Henry R.,Gustav A.,Emil, Wm. M., & Martha A.
My Grandfather Wm.M.died in 1939, when I was 2, so did
not know him. I remember his brother Henry R. well. He &
my grandmother lived in Lewisville, & FlowerMound, TX, in
Denton Co. My brother & I would like to find living relatives
still in Germany.

I am searching for information about a 19th century artist named Dulas Cline Bell born about 1830. I think he was an ancestor of the Sydney Cline-Wilhemina Oehlke family. Could you tell me if this name is in your family history?
His parents wer Dr. Nathanial Bell and Sarah Cline.

Sorry for the long delay in replying to your request. I've cast a wide "net" in gathering genealogical information and don't check back to all of the places I've been often enough.

I'm familiar with a family legend that has Oehlke brothers arriving in New York and splitting up, each settling in a different part of the US during the late 18th century. I'm also in possession of document that links the Minnesota Oehlkes to a samll village near Frankfort am Oder during the mid-19th century.

I suspect that a number of Oehlkes came to the US and Canada at different times and settled in different places, but remained in contact for years.

In the short term, I'm creating a record for each Oehlke that I've found through various sources. In the mid-term, I'll be working on constructing family trees and filling in lots of chronological information. In the long term, I'd love to make archival materials availalble via CD, DVD, or online. Any historical postcards, birth, death, marriage, etc. certificates, and other documents you have would make invaluable contributions to the collection.

Dear 'Minnesota Oehlke'

My great-great-grandparents were Gottfried Oehlke(1800-1902?)and Bertha Augusta Schulz (1820?-1903).

My great grandfather was Paul Oscar Rudolf Oehlke (1850-1904). He had a brother, named Ferdinand Emil called Frank born in 1851.

Paul, and many of his numerous brothers and sisters were born at Gross Tippeln and christened at Reichenbach in the county of Prussian Holland in East Prussia. These two men left Prussia at about the time of the Austro-Prussian War, 1866. They left together, so the stories go, working their passage to the new world.

Paul came to Canada eventually and Frank went to the American Midwest, becoming successful in the footwear business, or so family legend has it. Paul is recorded in the 1881 Canadian Census in Kingston, Ontario. His occupation is given as 'mariner'.

I hope this is of interest and use.

Hello, my cousin Jani Oehlke informed me of this site. My name has changed in spelling, however, originally it was Oehlke.
My great-grandfather (Urgrosvater) was Paul Oscar Rudolph Oehlke born Gross Tippeln (today probably Nowe Kepniewo) 7 Feb 1850 and christened in Reichenbach (today Rychliki) 10 Mar 1850.
His parents were Gottfried (1800 -@1901) and Bertha Augusta (nee Shulz 1820-1902). Apparently the region they lived in was known as 'Prussian Holland', so named because it had been settled by Dutch colonists brought in to reclaim lands under sea level. This county was in the western end of East Prussia.

'Gross Tippeln' was the name of a house linked to an estate. The family legend was that Gottfried managed or was the tenant on an estate belonging to the Prussian Crown. We still have a painting Paul created on wood to memorialise the house of his birth and youth.

I can provide a much more detailed geneaology of my branch of the family if anyone is interested.

I looked in my records and I have Alvina Oehlke Daughter of William and Hattie (Gollnick). I show she has a brother Benhart and sisters Erna and Matilda. Is this all correct?

Her brothers were William and Gustav and her sisters were Ernestine, Minnie, Louise, and Elise . William ,Ernestine Oehlke Quade,Gustave and Elise (possibly Schoedel) all lived in Manistee. Bertha Oehlke Draheim lived in Petersburg, Menard, IL; Minnie Oehlke Ludwig lived in Elgin ,Kane, IL and Louise Oehlke Hampel lived in Milwaukee, WI. I believe their parents were August Oehlke and Henriette Butzin and they emmigrated from Fuerstenau/Arnswalde,Neumark,Brandenburg, Germany in 1888 with Gustav and Elise.
