What is your line of descent from August Oeser? He had only one son to carry on the family name, Ernst Louie Oeser. Another son Emil died as a child. Ernst-Ernest was father of 11 children, only ten surviving to adulthood. Six of those children were boys, but not all had children. My grandfather was the youngest boy, Ernest Granville Oeser born in 1892. He had ten children, seven boys.

August Oeser is my great-great grand father and I believe that the city that the Oeser family originated from is Meissen. The fact that the Schlegel family was on the same ship and from the same city strengthens this belief because the Schlegel family was a influential family since the mid 1700s with the success of Johann Elias Schlegel and Johann Adolf Schlegel as poets. Please, if you discover any additional information keep in touch.

-Douglas Oeser
douglasoeser@hotmail.com

Hello cousin. It is great to finally find someone working on our branch of the Morenz and Oeser families. Waldemar Richard Morenz-Oeser was my husbands Grandfather. He came to the United States when he was 19 under the name Waldemar Morenz. Throughout his time as a Lutheran Minister he used the name Waldemar Richard Morenz-Oeser. After leaving the Ministary he dropped the Morenz from his name and used Waldemar Richard Oeser until his death. His sons also took the name Oeser as have his grandchildren and all the generations in the United States. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Patricia Reynolds Oeser
PO Box 174
Republic, WA 99166-0174
email: Panda52bear@Yahoo.com

Dear Patrica,

Believe it or not - I am also researching my family tree. On my parents side I actually can trace them to the mid 1700s - on my husbands side it is much more difficult as his family comes from all over. According to a letter from my late father to the Lutheran Church in Philadelphia Richard Waldemar Morenz-Oeser was his uncle on his mother's side (my grandmother). My grandmother was Lydia Morenz.

Before I go into all the details I wonder whether you are still interested in finding out more about our common ancestors. My family and I now live in London and are looking forward to your news. I think it is fantastic that there are some family members on my father's side (he was an only child) and I certainly welcome any news.

Looking forward to your mail.

Yours sincerely,
Gerlinde Behr-Johansen
My mailing address is: 2 Balvaird Place, London SW1V 3SN, U.K.

August Oeser - Saxony to US 1855

August Oeser was born in Germany 1823. He came to the US aboard the Mimi arriving in New York June 22 1855. He was a wheelwright. His wife Wilhelmina was born about 1825. Children were Ada Pauline b 1847; Ernst Louie b 1848; Augusta b c 1851; and Emil born c. 1853. The place of origin on the passenger list has an inkblot. I may be Wellzen or Mellzen (or something similar) in the Kingdon of Saxony. There was another family from the same place on the ship named Schlegel. He and family were in Nashville TN by 1858.

I think I might have WWII Ration Cards belonging to your family.
I purchased them at an Estate Sale in Colorado Springs last week. I listed them for sale on eBay this morning. My eBay ID is coloradofinds (all lowercase). Search eBay using any of the following Keywords: Oeser WWII Ration Cards Millford CT.
Ration Cards were issued to a Gladys Oeser and her two children Mark and Arlene from Millford, CT. I decided to searh this family name after I listed items for sale and found your post to Ancestry.com.

isn"t it funny to see how everyone is coming out of the woodwork as aresult of the efforts of jamel and angie !
i must admit I am a little apprehensive about it all.
I want to get to know about your lives and at the same time I do not want to return to my old one.Jeannie said I/we abandoned her. I am heartsick at the thought that she or anyof you would think that.Maybe if we communicate by e-mail we can explain and/or express our apologies to one anouther after carefully thinking about HOW we say it . We have the opportunity to start and maintain an honest relationship with one anotherfrom a safe distance while gradually getting closer. Alfred how are you? Virginia ,your a grandmother? Jeannie I miss you . Jamel you made the bar congradulations! nephews and nieces I am determined to know you ! There will be nothing that you can ask me that I
will not answer honestly.
Waldemar Richard Oeser

Looking for anyone who might be related to Rev. Waldemar Richard Morenz Oeser. He was born in Geringswalde, Saxony, Germany on 07 March 1862. He went to school in Germany and became a Lutheran minister. Waldemar immigrated to the US in 1881 aboard the Vandalia from Hamburg. The ship landed in NY and he was listed as a Teacher under the name Waldemar Morenz, age 19. He married 09 April 1890 in Philadelphia, PA to Ida Marie Hauf daughter of George Hauf and Katherina Holzschuh Hauf. He used the name Waldemar Richard Morenz-Oeser until the early 1900 when he dropped the Morenz part of the name. Any help with finding his parents and siblings would be great. You can contact me at me email address Panda47bear@rcabletv.com or at my mailing address PO Box 174, Republic, WA 99166-0174. When you were about two, my mother said that Jeanne came to see her. Jeanne told our mother that she was married to a policeman. She had a little boy (you?) with her and it seems I must have just missed her that day because I showed up later. Your grand mother ,Jeanette's sister's names are Vera, Mary, and Stephanie. Your great grandfather's name was Alfred Messina and he called his wife Jennie. I saw your story in the Reader's Digest and tried to contact you through the college you were attending because you looked so much like my youngest son and my brother, Alfred. I look forward to your reply. Please contact me at 706 624 0893 call me collect in the evenings.
