Donald William Oestreich 1929 - 2007 Donald William Oestreich, beloved son of Walter Wilhelm I and Hilda Marie (Behm) Oestreich was born in Graytown, Ohio on March 23, 1929. Don grew up on farms in Woodville and Luckey, Ohio, graduated from Troy-Luckey High School and attended Bowling Green State University. Don settled in Santa Monica and was a lighting engineer with Shalda Lighting Co. Don's witty sense of humor met Red Skelton's when he designed outdoor lighting for Big Red's Palm Springs home and for the Palm Springs Tramway. He was a gifted photographer, connoisseur of art, good food, and voracious reader. Don lived in Brea, CA 40 years prior to moving to Sunny Crest Chalet in Fullerton when admitted to St. Jude Hospital July 2, 2007 with inoperable cancer. He passed into peace on July 9, 2007. He is survived by his former wife, Gail (Oestreich) Morrison and three children, Julie (Russ) Marcus, Elizabeth (Tom) Forsberg and Walter Wilhelm Oestreich II; siblings, Joanne (Bill) Cole, Plymouth, MI, Elaine (Luther) Moenter, Pemberville, OH, Mae (Jack) Gardner, Albuquerque, N.M., Connie (Don) Fleming, Ada, OH, Paul (Nancy) Oestreich, New Carlisle, OH, and Sharon (Mike) Fisher, Findlay, OH; six grandchildren, Robyn, Tyler, Breanna, Blaire, Ryan, Jake and 14 nephews and nieces. Memorial service, to celebrate his life, is Sunday, July 29, 2007, 1:00 p.m., Memory Gardens, 455 W. Central Ave., Brea, CA 92821, phone 714-529-3961.
