Andrew Officer was a baker in Montrose, Scotland. He was married to Mary Webb, but I think she died sometime around 1823. He married again in 1824 (Margaret Fleming, Glenbervie, Kincardineshire).

In total, Andrew Officer had at least 8 children, mostly born in Scotland (Montrose or Glenbervie in Kincardineshire) so it's always surprised me that John was born in London. I haven't found why yet.

John married Mary Spark on 9 Jan 1842 in Fetteresso parish, Kincardineshire, Scotland. Between 1842 and 1867, they had 13 children born in Kincardineshire, Scotland. His occupation as listed in the 1851 census was meal miller, employing 1 man.

According to contacts I have made over the internet, the family emigrated to New Zealand on the "Schleswig Bride" in 1868. The youngest child died en route.

That's all the info I have readily available but will have a look back through e-mails etc to see if I can provide any more. I have census records etc of the family while in Scotland and also photographs of Andrew Officer's gravestone in Rosehill Cemetery, Montrose. If of interest, I can send on when I have a little bit more time. (SOrry for lack of paragraphs but for some reason they all disappear when I preview and post!!)

I am seeking information and correspondence from, to or about Harvey Officer, (Jr.) (1872-1947) and his family.
He was born in St. Paul, Minnesota (1872) and passed away in New York City (1947). He was unmarried but had several sisters and half-sisters, as well as nieces and nephews, several of whom did marry.
His father, Harvey Officer, Sr. (1834-1913), was married three times.
His first wife, Louisa Gorman Officer died from consumption, March 4, 1870.
Their daughter, Martha Caroline, was born December 7, 1859. She married a man named Woodward. After being widowed, Martha entered the Community of St. Mary, an Episcopal order. As Sister Monica, she served in the Philippines from 1912-1916. She passed away in 1930.
The second Mrs. Officer was Henrietta L. Paterson (c. 1845-1879) who was mother to Harvey, Cornelia Bell, and Alice Consett Officer. Henrietta Paterson Officer was descended from Rufus King and William Paterson.
Sister Alice Consett Officer (1875-1944) married William Warren Owens. They had three children, Mrs. Edwin P. (Henrietta) Ansley (Atlanta),
Mrs. James Gamble (Alice W.) Rogers (Pound Ridge) and
John Warren Owens.
Sister Cornelia Bell Officer (1877-?), married William Winfield Brown. Their children were
Winfield P. Brown (1900-?),
Milton G. Brown (1903-?),
Harvey O. Brown (1908-1973), an organist and composer, who also taught music. He was piano accompaniest and composer for Iva Kitchell, dance satirist, in the 1930s and 40s. Composer Lejaren Hiller (1924-1994), studied the piano with Mr. Brown and harmony with Harvey Officer.
Mary Alice Brown (1914 -1988). Mary Alice Brown married Edward J. Veitch (1910-?), the son of Andrew and Jane Veitch of Bloomington, on June 17, 1939, in the chapel of St. Bartholomew’s Church. Mr. Veitch was appointed an assistant secretary at Irving Trust Company in February 1943
Daughter Elizabeth Ann Veitch married Rev. Thomas A. Dodge, Jr., of Litiz, PA (June 23, 1967).
Daughter Jane Veitch, who married Rev. William A. Greenlaw. They reside in New York.
The third Mrs. Officer was Sarah M. Gordon Their daughter, Katherine Evelyn, was born c. 1882. Katherine Evelyn Officer married John G. Priedeman, of St. Paul, MN, on January 11, 1905.

I would very much enjoy talking to you about "Queenie" Officer. I have been researching that family for about 15 years and this is the first information that seems reliable about her that I have seen. I had seen her death certificate which listed her father as James Officer, but could never find any such person with a daughter that matched Queens age in TN. I have recently moved to White County Tennessee. I live next to a property that has an old cemetery, the surname is OFFICER. Tooley Officer is on one tombstone along with others. I would be glad to photograph said tombstones if anyone is interested.

Queenie Officer Was Frances Officer born 1856 Daughter of Thomas M Officer and Matilda Mattox.She is listed on the 1870 Muary County Tennessee census In the home of James Cloud.On the 1860 Howell County Missouri census she is still listed as Frances On the 1850 murray County Georgia census as Frances.My Great Grandmother was the daughter of Queenie's sister Mary Ann.She always referred to Queenie Bacon as Aunt Queenie.I was a kid then and hadn't caught the family history bug or believe me I would have asked more questions and not had to spend 15 years searching!

Searching for any family related to William Officer, b.1866, Ireland, d. 1903 Grand Island, Nebraska. He immigrated to Nebraska around 1887. Her father was possibly James Officer, born abt 1830. Looking for any info on her ancestry.

Born October 4, 1856 in Tennessee. She was born during Queen Victoria's Reign, hence the name.
Possibly listed in 1870 MO census or index?
Living in Crawford County, AR in 1880, so if she came from MO, it may well have been in the southern part of the state.

Married Amon Bacon in 1872
Had 11 children including Ben Bacon, bank robber.

Died February 16, 1939 in Stilwell, OK.

Died from influenza.

Hi David, I checked my Officer database and have 4 Harry's. However, none appear to have come from NC. Can you provide more info? Such as:

Dates of birth, death, marriages
Places and places of residences/dates
Who are his siblings and their dates and places if you know
Who are his children with dates and places.

Maybe we can zero in on his line and see what we can find. Next Thurs i should be able to check census records in NC and the info above will help

Hi Lavon. I have a large data base of Officers and do not seem to have your Sarah Jane and Alexander Kirby. I collect ALL occurences of Officers anywhere in the US, so I would like to help identify her. I have almost completed EVERY census entry of the Officer name. (see http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~officer/index.html which will be updated in the next week or so ) Can you provide any additional info? e.g. Are Sarah and Alexander black or white? Do you know when they moved to TX and what county in TX?, and do you have their census records in TX? What are their kids names?

I am currently in Salt Lake City doing research in the Family History Library. Is there something I can look up here that could help you find them? e.g. marriage, birth, death records.

I have been 'collecting' info on Officers for some time. I show that your grandmother had 4 siblings, and according to the census, they lived in Crawford Co KS, Baker twp in 1880, Bourbon Co, Franklin twp in 1900, Morton Co KS in 1910, moving to Colorado for the 1920 censu in las Animas Co.

I show that the children of Charles L. and Minnie Officer were William H 'Charlie', b. July 1897 in the Indian Territory (Oklahoma); Clara Gertrude ( I only show b. Oct 1899, KS); Cleo B. b. 1906, KS; James D. b. 1908, KS and Ethel, b. 1915 in Colorado.

I don't have any death dates, marriage info, etc for ANY of the children. It seems that there could have been other children because of the gap in ages between 1899 and 1906

I'd appreciate any info you can share about any Officer. Please use my email address below. By the way, there is another Officer forum that seems a little more active than this one at http://genforum.genealogy.com/officer/

I also have info on Charles L. Officers parents, grandparents, etc, back to the immigrant James Officer, b. 1693 in Co. Antrim, Ulster, Ireland. I have it all out on some web pages. But I don't show anything on line for people still living who were born after 1925. I only keep that on my home file and am careful about sharing that info.

Hope you are able to get more info from your mother. Sometimes they are willing and sometimes not. Would be nice to know WHERE and when they all were born, married, full names, etc.

I think the reason you remember KS is that the family was in KS before moving to CO. Judging from the kids births, they moved sometime between 1909 and 1915. It would be fun to try and find where Officer CO is or was. Next time we go to Salt Lake, I'll check in the various post office books.

Beginning work on Officer family. Robert Hickman Officer fought in Civil War, probably a Rebel. His wife may have been Unknown Stotts, perhaps from Tennessee. A later Officer was Clarence Ethan Officer in Arkansas who died within the last ten years.

I have a Nathaniel Officer in my family. Born in 1837 and married Jane Brown at Manchester Cathedral on 31 May 1857. His father was James Officer and he married Mary Ellenson. Their children were Mary (b1858), Margaret (b.1863), Agnes (b1866), Elizabeth (b.2 Aug. 1868/d. 8 June 1948) and Tom. Elizabeth married my great grandfather William on January 25 1890. They had 6 children.
