Hi,
My name is Jacinta.
I am currently looking for relatives of my father. (Christopher Ogden)
He was born in Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire in 1952 and grew up in Mytholmroyd with several siblings. Apparently he left home at about the age of 19 or 20 and ended up in New Zealand.
If you went to school with him, or someone who may be related to him? I would appreciate any information.
Thankyou,
Regards,
Jacinta
I am looking for any information on Ann and hope that someone knows something about her. She appears in the 1850 Census in Elizabeth township, NJ, age 60 with a younger Ann W. Ogden age 11. In the census they are shown as born in New York. I assume she is a widow and there are many possible male Ogdens in the 1840 census that could be her husband but without some additional information I am at a dead end. Staying with them is Thomas Ogden Weatherley who may be the husband of her daughter, but that is just a guess.

Thanks for any help with my mystery Ogden.

Louisa D. Ogden

Hey everyone, I am trying to find out anything about my great-grandmother Cora Ogden's sister Louisa. She was born in NY, probably Plattsburgh, in early 1896, possible May. I have her in the 1900 with her father David Obadiah Ogden and mother Mary Weatherwax and sister Cora, and in the 1910 census with her mother and sister (Obadiah died in 1908). After this, I lose her. According to Mary's obituary, she has two grandkids that aren't Cora's, but there is no mention of Louisa in either Mary's or Cora's obituary. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Michael Cook

July 3, 1853; 1st m. Sept. 20, 1803, SARAH ROBINSON DAYTON b,. Jan. 9, 1771; d. Apr. 9, 1820; dau. of General Elias Dayton and Hannah --- , his wife;

I was able to confirm through church records in Newark that a Sarah Dayton married Isaac Ogden in 1803, but I am not thoroughly convinced that the Sarah is the daughter of Elias Dayton.....
I recently purchased a bunch of old photos. One of the photos shows a young girl, and is labeled on the reverse "Bessie Verner Smith (Ogden), age 3". The photo was taken at a photo studio in Columbus, Indiana, maybe during the early 1900s. The other photo is labeled on the front "Bessie Verner Smith, age 10" and on the back "Bessie Verner Smith, age 10, 1899." I believe the reference to 1899 is the year that Bessie was born. This photo was taken in Greensburg, Indiana, likely in 1910. Attached are copies of the photos. If these are your ancestors, please contact me.

I recently purchased a bunch of old photos. One of the photos shows a young girl. On the back of the photo is a newspaper article showing Miss Marilyn Ogden. The article states "Miss Marilyn Ogden, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Ogden of Greensburg, (Indiana), has been named member of the Sunrise Choir, Stephens College, Missouri..." The photo was likely taken at a photo studio in Indiana, maybe during the 1920s. Attached is a copy of the photo. I also have another photo of a young Marilyn reading a book with her mother. If this is one of your ancestors, please contact me.

Hi-

Lorenzo Ogden (b. abt 1812, OH) and Martha Morris (b. abt 1818, OH) are my ancestors. They married 7 Oct 1840 in Knox county, Illinois. Jonathan Ogden signed that Martha was of age. By the 1850 census, Lorenzo was gone.

I am descended from Lucy D. Ogden, who is one of their daughters. Lucy D. was born about 1841 in Illinois, but her brother, Alonzo was born about Dec 1845 in Bentonsport, Van Buren, Iowa.

I found Martha Morris Ogden widowed with four children in 1850 in Union, Fulton co., Illinois, living with Margrete Morris, age 88.

Does anyone have more information that could help me find Lorenzo's parents?

Thanks,
Melanie

Searching for descendants of Maude Jeannette Wemp (1895-1975)and Albert Fox Deloney (1894-1975) from Austin Texas. Their daughter Mary Jean Deloney (b.1928) married Robert Lee Ogden. I think had two children Susan Jeannette Wemp (b.1962) and Steven Deloney Wemp (b.1964).Maude Jeannette Wemp's father was William Porter Wemp from Millhaven, Ontario, Canada. I am researching the Wemp family. Any info appreciated.

I'm g-g-granddaughter of Ransellar (Rensler) Billings Ogden (1805-1863) who left Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania prior to 1841. He was possibly from London, England, may have had a connection to a stageline in the northeast and possibly had a sister who married into the Armour family. He married Elizabeth Ceil and died in Hamilton County, Illinois. Seeking any information on his history in Philadelphia area.

Source: http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/moh1.htm

Note: This is not my ancestry. I have NO additional information. I am just passing along information that may be useful.

OGDEN, CARLOS C.

Rank and organization: First Lieutenant, U.S. Army, Company K, 314th Infantry, 79th Infantry Division. Place and date: Near Fort du Roule, France, 25 June 1944. Entered service at: Fairmont, Ill. Born: 19 May 1917, Borton, Ill. G.O. No.: 49, 28 June 1945. Citation: On the morning of 25 June 1944, near Fort du Roule, guarding the approaches to Cherbourg, France, 1st Lt. Ogden's company was pinned down by fire from a German 88-mm. gun and 2 machineguns. Arming himself with an M-1 rifle, a grenade launcher, and a number of rifle and handgrenades, he left his company in position and advanced alone, under fire, up the slope toward the enemy emplacements. Struck on the head and knocked down by a glancing machinegun bullet, 1st Lt. Ogden, in spite of his painful wound and enemy fire from close range, continued up the hill. Reaching a vantage point, he silenced the 88mm. gun with a well-placed rifle grenade and then, with handgrenades, knocked out the 2 machineguns, again being painfully wounded. 1st Lt. Ogden's heroic leadership and indomitable courage in alone silencing these enemy weapons inspired his men to greater effort and cleared the way for the company to continue the advance and reach its objectives.

Burial: Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA

Born: 1917 BORTON, IL

Died: 2001

Additional Information and cemetery monument photo:
http://www.homeofheroes.com/gravesites/arlington/ogden_carlo...

Frances Sarah was a daughter of Abraham Ogden and married my great great grandfather Nathaniel Lawrence of Liverpool England in 1815.

I am trying to establish which Abraham Ogden her father was and see if there are any present descendants.

Nathaniel Lawrence, and I, are descended from Rev. Philip Henry, the 17th century divine of Broad Oak Flintshire ejected from his living as a consequence of his refusal to accept the Act of Uniformity in 1662. His son Rev. Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Bible is still in print.

Henry W. Ogden New Jersey-1811-1856-Navy

I’m not of the family and this is just a little lead for those who are looking into this family.

Henry W. Ogden was born in New Jersey, and lived most of his life there? While in Pennsylvania in 1811, he enlisted in the navy, he was commissioned as a Midshipman on Sept. 1, 1811, his pay would be $19 dollars a month and have two rations a day. There is no duty rosters from 1811-1816, even though he was in service. On March 5, 1817, he was commission as a Lieutenant, at a pay of $40 dollars a month and three rations a day. In 1818 he was station to the Mediterranean. In 1819, he was station to the Washington 74. In 1820 & 1821, he was station to the Corvette John Adams. In 1822 & 1823, he was station on the Franklin 74. In 1824, he was still on the Franklin now in the Pacific Ocean. In 1825, he was on Leave of absence. In 1826, he was station to the Schooner Porpoise. In 1827, he was station to the Sloop Vincennes. In the years of 1829-1831, he was on Leave of absence. In the years of 1832-1834, he was station at Rendezvous at New York. From 1835-1836, he was waiting orders. The is no duty roster for 1837. In 1838, he was nominated for Commander. My index’s will not find him again till 1842, at this time he was nominated for Captain, he was 19th. In line, then on Feb. 5, 1848, he was commissioned as Captain, at a pay of $100 dollars a month and eight rations a day. The last time he is in my index’s will be in 1856, at this time he was put on the reserved list.
I am looking for any information on Stacey Stockton Ogden (b Abt. 1892; d. Mar 9, 1969 in Philadelphia's Veteran Hospital). I believe Stockton was his mother's maiden name and was used as his middle name. I have no other information on his ancestors. Stacey Stockton Ogden married Margaret Mary Flynn and their 9 children (Caroline, Patricia, Buddy, Margie and William are among the deceased) were born in Phildelphia. They were Catholic. Stacey Stockton Ogden may have been born in Philly, Delaware County PA or in NJ.
Thank you to anyone who may be able to help me break this wall. I am the great grandaughter of Stacey Stockton Ogden, through his daughter Caroline.

CHARLES GILLEN OGDEN and MABEL WALLACE – WILLIAM O. WOLLENHAUPT

CHARLES GILLEN OGDEN and MABEL WALLACE – WILLIAM O. WOLLENHAUPT
I have recently purchased a cabinet card photograph of Charles Gillen Ogden and William O. Wollenhaupt in a very fancy buggy being pulled by Charlie’s mare “Nelly”. The actual image measures 4 7/8 inches tall, by 8 inches wide and is mounted on a nice dark brown hard board that measures 5 3/16 by 8 7/16. There is no photographers name or markings on the front or back of the image. The back of this image is marked in pencil with the date of May 22, 1898 – Charles G. Ogden – Will. Wollenhaupt – Charlies mare “Nelly”. This is an original photo and not a reproduction or a print. This photo was taken near Middletown, Orange County, New York where both of these men lived. Charles was a harness maker and owned his own shop and store in Middletown, New York for many years. It is obvious by the photo that he was an excellent craftsman as the harness on his mare is superb. Charles and his ancestors and descendants lived in Middletown from the 1860’s through the 1960’s.
I have done a short genealogical history on Charles Gillen Ogden and his wife Mabel Wallace and Charles’ ancestors. Charles was born 12 June 1874, and his wife Mabel Wallace was born 1881. They were married on 14 November 1901.
William O. Wollenhaupt, Charlie’s friend, was born in New Jersey in July 1875. He 1900 he lived in Middletown with his father Henry Wollenhaupt, and step-mother Mary J. Jordan. At that time Will was working in the Laundry in Middletown.
I would like to get this image back into the hands of a Charles G. Ogden descendant, but barring that possibility perhaps into the hands of a Wollenhaupt descendant. Anyone interested in this image is urged to contact me via this message board or by personal e-mail.
John Ogden/Odgen in Yorkshire

I have a John Odgen/Ogden who was married to a female Barrett. The family story says that her father would only let them marry if he changed his name to Barrett.

I am descended from their son Charles Barrett who was born in Bradford, Yorkshire in about 1833.

I have Charles in the 1861 and I have his marriage certificate but have no more information on him! His wife and son are in the 1871 and she is listed as a widow = so I presume that he has died (though I haven't traced his death certificate yet....despite numerous purchases of certificates!!).

On Charles marriage certificate it states that his father is John Odgen who's profession is listed as a Miller.

If anyone has come across this family and has any further information to help me in my search it would be great!!
