Born- 2 June 1922 in Altus Oklahoma, Jackson County 4th ward. Enlisted in the U.S Army 30 May 1942. Rank PFC, Military Police. Served time in Panama. Honorable Discharge 1 Nov 1945. Married Mary Catherine Johns. ( not known exact year of marriage as of yet). She also served in the Military during WW2. Enlisted in the U.S.Army WAC with Rank of Private, Medical Technician, Honorable Discharge 20 Nov 1945. Her Parents were Anton Johns and Frances Katherine Valentine. Together they had:

Generation 2:
Robert Franklin Oglesby ( In some census records, it lists him as Franklin Robert )
Born- 29 December 1898 Tennessee . ( California Death Records, listed him as being born in Tennessee, ) Still have to send for Birth record, in either state to be sure ) He is listed in the 1900 Federal Census as residing in Roxton Texas, Lamar County, with his parents and siblings, sister Hattie and brother Stanley. 1910 Federal Census, Robert is listed along with his parents as residing in Mangum Township, Greer County, Oklahoma. Both Robert and brother Stanley served in WW1. At time of Robert's enlistment, Robert was employed by his father. His Occupation was farmer.

His wife, Beatrice Palmer was born- 2 November 1902 in Oklahoma to parents, Thomas Jefferson Palmer & Theresa Marie Thomas.

Robert is next found in the 1930 Federal Census as living in Altus Oklahoma, Jackson County, now married to wife, Beatrice Palmer. Together they had children:
1) Don Oglesby Not dates of birth, death or family
2) Irene Oglesby Born 1921 ( assumed in Oklahoma ) She married 1947 to Clark Wiley.
Their Children: Dorothy Irene Wiley Born- 2 June 1948 Los Angles, Ca, Died- 19 Aug 1948
2) Robert Clark Wiley Born- 15 Sept 1949 Los Angeles, Ca, Died- 17 Sept 1949
3) John Gary Wiley Born- 11 March 1952 Los Angeles, Ca4) Susan M. Wiley ( known as " Genie, the wild child ", from the Nova Documentary )
Born- 18 April 1957 Los Angeles, California
Robert died- July 1982 in Ontario California and buried in Ontario Cemetery, California.
Beatrice died- 24 February 1985 and buried next to her husband, in Ontario California.




3rd generation:

William Howard Oglesby Born- November 1871 in Georgiaparents- currently unknown. I have him as having a brother, Charles C. Oglesby, being born in 1875 in Georgia.

Married- Frances Elizabeth Steele on 2 November 1893 in Lamar County, Texas.
She was born- 13 September 1872 in Whitefield Mississippi. Her parents were, James Henry Steele & Margaret Vernon Montgomery
William , wife Frances and family are listed in 1900 as living in Roxton Texas, Lamar County. 1910 Federal Census lists him and his family as living in Mangam Township, in Greer County, Oklahoma.
Together they had children:
1) Robert Franklin Oglesby Born- 29 Dec 1898 Lamar County, Texas, Married to Beatrice Palmer
2) Hattie Oglesby Born- July 1891 Lamar County, Texas, Died 15 November 1913 Greer County, Oklahoma3) Stanley Oglesby born- August 1897 Lamar County, Oklahoma. Served in WW1, died in Texas ( no other info currently)
4) Lee Hurcle Oglesby born- 20 March 1901 Lamar County, Texas, Died- 24 July 1956 Los Angeles, Ca5) Loyd Oglesby born- 1902 Lamar County, Texas, Married Lizzie Hardy on 16 February 1929 in Bryan County, Texas6) Royce Oglesby Born- 1908 Greer County, Oklahoma7) Elvis Oglesby born- 23 November 1908 Greer County, Oklahoma ( it thought Elvis and Royce were twins )

1920 Federal census has him and his family living in Baucum Oklahoma, Jackson County. 1st wife, Frances Elizabeth had died 20 June 1913, and William's second wife is now listed on Census. William's married his second wife Lilla Murtee Dixson on 3 January 1915. Together they had a unknown named daughter whom was born in 1912

This is ALL from my notes thus far, and all I have. Without William Howard Oglesby's birth certificate, which I am still trying to get form the state of Georgia, I have no idea as to whom his parents were. Am also trying to get birth certificate of his first wife, Frances Elizabeth Steele as well.

Franklin A. Oglesby Born- Aug 1845 Surry County, North Carolina, He died aft 1920 in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Married to Martha Jane Tucker. They had 6 children.

Generation 5;
Shadrack Oglesby Born- 1804 Surry County, North Carolina, Married Nancy Roberts. They had 10 children

Generation 6;
Micajah Oglesby Born- 1754 Virginia
Died- 20 March 1828 Surry County, North Carolina, Married Frances Black. They had 11 Children

Generation 7;
William Oglesby Born- bet 1716-1727 in Goochland County, Virginia, Married Ann Perkins, they had 9 children

Generation 8;
Jacob Oglesby Born- 1709 Henrico County, Virginia
He died aft 1780. Married Constance Perkins, they had 4 children

Generation 9;
Richard Oglesby Born- 1685 in Scotland, He died Feb 1731. Married Susanna Ware, they had 6 children.
If you like I can give you data, if you write to me privately, on what I have been able to find, though census, wills, property taxes and some marriage bonds, of Parents and children. Still waiting on some records that have not come back to me as of yet. A work in progress.

My GGGG grandfather Joseph Oglesby 1756, appears to be a brother of Micaja Oglesby 1754, as in the family group below.
I have no other info on Micaja, but am interested in more.

My great-great-great grandfather was Constant Oglesby Sr., who was born
about 1748 in Goochland County, Virginia. He married Nancy Coursey, a
daughter of William Coursey, date and place unknown. Constant Oglesby Sr.
moved on - first to Albermarle County, Virginia, where he appears on the
1782 tax list; then to Edgefield County, South Carolina, where he is listed
on the 1790 census. In 1804 he sold his land in South Carolina, probably
with the idea of moving to Kentucky. In 1804 and 1805 he is not on the tax
lists of Christian County, Kentucky, but his son, Jacob Oglesby was listed
there in 1806. On July 8, 1807, Constant Oglesby got a land grant of four
hundred acres (in what is now the Apex Community), overlooking Pond River on
what is now State Road 189. In 1810 Constant Oglesby Sr. is listed as a
resident of Hopkinsville, Kentucky as a shoe cobbler, although this listing
could be that of his son, Constant Oglesby Jr, who would have been
twenty-two years old at that time. Constant Oglesby Sr died in late 1837 or
early 1838 as his estate was appraised January 8, 1838 and sold February 2,
1838. His unmarked grave lies in a cluster of trees overlooking the Pond
River Valley.
In 1875 Jacob Oglesby, grandson of Constant Sr. donated a plot of ground for
a cemetery; this cemetery is southeast of White Plains, Kentucky, on a ridge
that extends up from the Pond River bottom land. The road is named Oglesby
Cemetery Road. Polly Oglesby, wife of Jacob, is probably the first person
buried there as she died in 1877 and Jacob died in 1878; both have small
markers under a large cedar tree in the cemetery, which is kept in good
condition until the present time.
This research has been a fun thing and a continuing hobby that never has an
end as more children are born each year. The most enjoyment has been the
many contacts and friends that have been made over the years of doing this
search. My thanks go to Mrs. Eva Edwards, a great-great-granddaughter of
Jacob Oglesby, first child of Constant Jr. Mrs. Edwards owns a grocery store
near Central City that her father, Arthur Oglesby started and it was still
going in 1998 as Oglesby Grocery. Thanks also to Mr. and Mrs. Paul Oglesby,
who live near Hopkinsville; Paul was born in 1918; he is a
great-great-grandson of Jacob.

get together for a face-to-face meeting but we talked numerous times via

1. Family:The third son of Constant Oglesby Jr., Stephen Decatur Oglesby,
settled in the community of Ortiz, in what is now Webster County. Stephen
married Louisa Betty Knight March 12, 1851 in Christian County, Kentucky.
They were blessed with eight children, four boys and four girls before
Stephen died March 8, 1870. Stephen and Louisa are buried at Mt. Lebanon
cemetery along with their children Franklin Pierce Oglesby, Nancy Oglesby
Fraser, and Mary Oglesby Ezell. The youngest child, Louisa, married and
lived in Henderson. The other children stayed in Webster County, around
Sebree and Poole.

F.M. Oglesby, sr., 74, a retired carpenter, died at 2 a.m. Sunday at his
home in Madisonville.
Surviving are the wife, Mayme; a daughter, Mrs. Harold Berry, of
Madisonville; a son, F.M. Oglesby, Jr., Madisonville; a half-sister, Mrs.
Stella Collins of Henderson; three half brothers, Otis Oglesby of Henderson
and Thomas and Herman Oglesby of Evansville and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Mt. Lebanon Church near
here, Rev. O.T. Nichols officiating. Burial in church cemetery.
He is an uncle of Vernon Orsburn of this place. **

1. Family:The seventh child of Constant Oglesby Jr., Gustavas Adolphus
Oglesby, is my great-grandfather; he also settled in the Ortiz area in
Webster County. He married Mary Elizabeth Shelton, the daughter of Josiah
Cyrus Shelton, who had moved to Henderson County the first time when Mary
Elizabeth was about six years old. The Shelton family stayed in Kentucky for
awhile but they did not like it and moved back east. After awhile, they
decided they had rather be in Kentucky and they moved back, coming over the
Highland Lick road in Christian County, Kentucky, camping by a big spring,
near what was then White Plains, located near the present day Fruit Hill.
Gustavas and Stephen Oglesby happened by the Shelton's camp. The older
Shelton girls were grown and quite attractive and the Oglesby boys decided
to continue on with the Sheltons. In 1852, Gustavas Adolphus Oglesby married
one of the younger Shelton girls, Mary Elizabeth, in Henderson County. They
had eight children while living in Ortiz, with two others being born after a
move to Union County.
Gustavas (Doc) Oglesby served in the Union Army during the Civil War. He was
a short man, five feet six inches tall, with fair complexion and blue eyes.
During his period in the service, he was accidentally hit in the mouth by
another soldier, knocking out his front teeth; he was awarded a pension for
his injury.


Until Stephen Oglesby died in 1870, he and his brother Gustavas lived near
each other. A year or so later, Gustavas was again on the move.

to adulthood; they all resided in Hopkins and Christian Counties except the

what would later be Webster County. These Oglesby descendants are buried at
Sassafras Grove Cemetery between Henderson and Sebree, Kentucky.
