Several people apparently are using the old book giving the names of Richard Oglesby and Susanna Ware's children incorrectly. Refer to the will of Susanna (Adams) Ware for the correct names, e.g. Jacob, Elizabeth, Alice and Mourning. Note that Elizabeth's name does not show Elizabeth Coraby, just Elizabeth. Also, it is not stated whether Mourning is a male or a female. It would appear that Jacob and Elizabeth were older than Alice and Mourning, as they were given direct inheritances, whereas Alice and Mourning were to receive increase of the slave Sarah, but Elizabeth's mother was to have the use of said Sarah until Elizabeth comes of age or is married. Susanna Allen also received four ewes and lambs. Susanna had already remarried, to Charles Allen by the time the will was written in Feb. 1734/35 and proved May 1735. (see Henrico Co., VA Wills)

Also, postings showing Susanna Adams married Jacob Ware in Virginia are in error. See National Genealogical Society Quarterly for the correct marriage in England, and proof of that Jacob Ware being the one living later in Virginia through analysis of his signature.

Another common mistake I see is in calling Jacob's wife Constance. She is clearly Constant Oglesby (see deeds) and was Constant Christian per Goochland Co., VA Court Min. Bk. 3.

I am interested in dialogue with someone who has researched these families. I believe this Jacob, who married Constant Christian, also married Ann Bailey. But, I believe he died prior to 1782, which means he is not the same Jacob who married Mildred Martin. Whether or not he was the same Jacob who married Constant Christian, the Jacob who married Ann Bailey most probably died before 1782. I have a theory that his widow Ann married Charles Alford, and would like to know more about that.

Jacob Oglesby and Ann Bailey had four children listed in the Douglas Register, which is the only source I have found to positively tie Ann's husband to any children. These children were Thomas, Jesse, Constant and Pleasant Bailey, my ancestor, who married Elizabeth Gilliam (and assorted spellings)in Albemarle Co., VA.

The family lived briefly in Kentucky before moving to Cooper County, Missouri.

In Pleasant Bailey's probate in Cooper Co., MO June 1847 (no will), mention is made on a doctor's bill for services to "brother Jesse" which I think means Pleasant Bailey Oglesby's brother Jesse.

Does anyone have any proof to destroy my theory? I would welcome discussion.
