James O'Hanlon married a woman with the same surname as his, Matilda Hanlon or O'Hanlon. Her father Patrick O'Hanlon was married to Mary Mc Shane.
James had a brother Henry, sisters Rose married Hugh Mc Cann, Catherine married Felix Mc Cann and both went to live in Scotland. Matilda had sisters Catherine , Ellen and possibly Mary. Catherine married Patrick Campbell who emigrated to America. His wife Catherine remained in Portadown Armagh. It is thought that Patrick Campbell went to San Francisco, and later sponsored a young O'Hanlon from Markethill/Tandragee to emigrate to America too. The young O'Hanlon became a bare knuckle boxing champion in the USA. They had a cousin Simon who also went to America. Anyone out there with information can contact me at

James and Matilda were my mother Anne O'Hanlon's grandparents. Matilda was descended from Count Redmond O'Hanlon , the Raparee.
