Kon -- French. The family moved to Poland about the time of the French Revolution and later picked up the "ski" ending.
One of the Konski boys wanted to marry an Irish girl. Prefix "Mc" means "son of" and prefix "O" means "son of "Mc". The story goes that the Irish girl would not get married with out the "O" prefix.
There was a Lord High Mayor of Dublin in the 1910's by the name of O'Konski.
NOW YOU KNOW AT LEAST THE STORY THAT I HAVE BEEN TOLD! GOOD LUCK.
