The following is mostly information that has been passed on to me after passing through the hands of at least a couple of relatives. I have no records to substantiate any of this information. If anyone reading this has any information or documentation to add or supplement the following, your contribution would be greatly appreciated, particularly with regard to additional generations in the Old Country.
Hedwig "Hattie" OLBRICH was born on 30 October 1894 in Alt-Lublitz, then a village in the Troppau area (now Opava), in the Austria-Hungarian Empire (now in the Czech Republic). She immigrated with her family to the United States in 1899 when she was 4 years old, arriving by ship in Galveston, Texas, and settling in Burlington, Milam County, Texas.
Hattie's father was Johann OLBRICH, born about 1856 in Alt-Lublitz. Her mother was Maria PRETSCH (dau. of Joseph PRETSCH of Christdorf, Moravia, Austria and Josepha BENISCHKE of Hartan, Moravia, Austria), born about 1859 in Christdorf. Hattie had three brothers, Johann, born about 1884, Eduard, born about 1885, and Josef, born about 1897. She had one sister, Anna, born about 1888.
Hattie and Anna married brothers in Burlington, Texas. Hattie married Heinrich "Henry" HELPERT, born 17 June 1886, and Anna married Johann "John" Helpert, both also born in Alt-Lublitz.
Hattie and Henry eventually had 11 children. Henry died in 1966 in Burlington, Texas, and Hattie died on 23 March 1975 while residing in a nursing home in Rosebud, Texas.
Johann OLBRICH, father of Hattie, was the son of Anton OLBRICH of Alt-Lublitz, and Eleanora JANICEK, of Stibsowitz(sp? probably Stiebrowitz, Troppau), Austria.
Again, if anyone has any documentation with regard to this information, or additions to the OLBRICH ancestry, I'd love to hear from you.
Decendant of Hattie OLBRICH and Henry HELPERT.
