I read the other Dewsbury thread, but it doesn't sound like the folk there connect to me. So I'm starting a new thread.

I have traced back to John Oldroyd born in Batley abt 1824. John married Jane Unknown and had children William, George Alfred, Joseph Edward, Mary Elizabeth and Rowland Ernest, born between 1846 and 1866.

I've found John Oldroyd and this family in the 1851, 61, 71 and 81 censuses, but I can't find him in the 1841 census as there seem to be several John Oldroyds in Batley all around the same age.

Can anyone connect to this? This is my paternal line, and I only have 4 generations back, which is not much. I have up to 7 generations back on some of my other lines.
