Hello, I am in the process of trying to trace my family history and seem to have hit a road block. I have traced it back to my Great grandfather. His name was Estanislado Oliva and his wife's name was Cayetana. According to the 1920 Census, they moved to the U.S. from Mexico in 1910. They had several children: Jose, Gabriela, Dionicia, David Ynez and Santos. I believe there may be more but I am not sure. I was able to contact an uncle but that seemed to be all the information he knew. My grandfather was Jose H. Oliva. Any information that anyone can provide would be greatly appreicated and I am looking forward to possible meeting new family members.

I just pulled out my grandfathers death cert. and it states his mom is Isabella Ferrer and Father is Phillip Oliva. Correction on his d.o.b. 4/15/1920 in NY, NY.. I am seeking his birth certificate for more info but we are talking about the same family. My mom verified that is brothers are George and Arthur.. I really hope this is the son of Richard because if so you have 4 sisters, Grace, Jennifer, Diane and Betty.

My grandfather is Francisco Oliva Gaytan, he is in his mid or late 80's and he still lives in Matehuala, San Luis Potosi. Unfortunately I don't know his family, but it's a small town I think all the Olivas there are related in some way.

Henry J. (Buddy) Oliva Jr, Died on January 5, 2004 from complications of liver failure. He was 52 years old.

Born on March 4, 1951 to Henry J. (PeeWee) Oliva and Helen (Stock) Oliva. Buddy, the youngest of 4, was raised and spent most of his life in south NJ. At the age of 25, he met and married Marianne Palladino on July 26, 1976. Working for 7 years at various body shops and odd jobs, Buddy had two children while living in Vineland, Henry Joseph (Joe) Oliva 3rd, of Lincoln, NE, born on January 26, 1978 and Jennifer Lee Oliva, of Upper Darby, PA, born on March 3, 1981 (concidered to be his 30th birthday present).

Buddy and his family moved to Upper Darby, PA in 1983, where he worked for 15 years with SEPTA as a head body repairman. Retired in 1998, Buddy spent his remaining time doing the things he loved; hunting, fishing, taking care of his family and watching John Wayne films.

He was quoted as saying about a month before he passed away:
"One of my greatest feelings I ever had was the day I first, held my granddaughter (Tanisha K. Rutledge, born to Jennifer Oliva and Adam Rutledge on April 10, 2001) in my arms, and then seeing my 'Little Duke' grandson (Braiden Oliva, born to Bridget and Joe Oliva on May 4, 2001) for the first time. They lit up my life."

My husband's grandfather's name was Dewey Dennis Oliva (b.10 Jul 1916 and d.May 2001). Dewey's father was Farnest Oliva. I have that he was born: 22 Jul 1889 and died Apr 1963.

I was born in the Capital. My father's name is also Ruben Oliva. He was also born in Guatemala City. My grandfather's name was Ramon Oliva. He was born somewhere in Mexico. But that is as much as I know.

Searching for family of Rocco Oliva who immigrated from Calabria, Italy 1907/08, with two brothers, Michael and Jimmy. Michael stayed in the US and Jimmy returned to Italy. I do not think there is a connection between our Oliva's. My Michael Oliva died in 1944 in NY. I know he had several children (at least one son who died in 1968 and two daughters who are still living). My father last communicated with his brother, Francisco Oliva, when he lived in Denver, Colorado. I do not know if we are talking about the same person. My father wanted me to log on to the Oliva Family Genealogy Forum website, with what little of Francisco they know, so that we could locate his brother. What was your uncle's father's name? Rio Rancho Observer - January 8, 2003

Carlo J. Oliva, a long time resident of Rio Rancho, passed away on December 24, 2002. Carlo was born on April 9, 1909, in New York City to Anthony and Antonette Oliva. He was very proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving many tours of duty and earning several medals, including a Bronze Star.

Prior to retirement, he was a truck driver for the sanitation department of New York. Carlo was a member of the Grace Outreach Center, a charter member of the D.A.V., and a member of the Elks Lodge.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Rose Oliva; a daughter, Shirley De Nunzio of Orlando, FL, a son, Tony Oliva, and his wife, Classian, of Portland, OR; and 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of very special friends. Carlo will be dealy missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service ws held on january 2, 2003, at Grace Outreach Center, with Pastor Kent Barnard as officiant. Innichement took place at Vista Verde Memorial Park with the RIo Rancho Honor Guard presenting honors. Services under the care of Sunrise Funeral Options, 2400 Souther Blvd., Rio Rancho, NM (505-891-9192)

Looking for info on Felipe OLIVA, b. abt. 1884. Emigrated to U.S. in 1931 from Caracas, Venezuela. Known wife Isabel FERRELL probably born San Juan, Puerto Rico. Three sons (Richard, George, Arthur) born *somewhere* several years before Mr. Oliva's move to U.S. Don't know where Felipe Oliva (and wife, kids) lived prior to his emigration. Felipe and Isabel both died relatively young in NY (in 1930's) and left very little info for their young children. Any help appreciated!

Searching for information regarding my Grandmother, ESTERINA OLIVA AKA ESTHER OLIVIA DISPOTO. Information we have been able to assemble to date: She was born circa 1907 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She and my Grandfather, CARMELO DISPOTO were married on September 16, 1923 at ST. LUCY'S CHURCH, 802 Kent Avenue, in Brooklyn, New York. The marriage certificate shows her residence as 45 TAAFFE PLACE, Brooklyn, and that her sister (?), ROSINA OLIVA and her mother, MARY BIFANO (or BIFARO) were witnesses at the ceremony. Carmelo and Esther lived in Brooklyn, New York and Lodi, New Jersey. They had 2 sons, Charles (born 1924 in Brooklyn, New York) and Angelo Bruno (my father, born 1926 in Lodi New Jersey). Carmelo and Esther divorced September 19, 1929.

My father saw "Nana Esther" (our pet name for her) when he was approximately 18, and she introduced him to his half-brother (we do not know his name); unfortunately, due to the circumstances at hand, it was the last time my father saw her.

Many tales have been told as to the reasons for my grandparents divorce, but all I want to do is let my "Nana Esther" and her family know is that she has been in my heart since I first found out about her and I hope there is someone out there who can help us come full circle. Any information will be greatly appreciated.
