Hello, it is so nice to hear of other people looking to find out more about the Ollie's. My name is Demetrice Ollie. Seems like my line of Ollie's come from Georgia near macon, they then migrated to Roanoke, Va where a few live.

I've found these post very intresting... I've had some illness and have just recently started doing more research into my families.

I'm a whilte female from IA. I was told growning up granddad's name was Jason... but since then I've found some documentation that list it as James.

Someone here mentioned a Harry Ollie, and while I know he waan't the same person, James named his youngest son, my uncle Harry.

I really wish this site let you include a photograph... My grandfather was very dark skinned -- 2 of his five children were also, only 1 was fair with blue eyes.

I would not be surprised to learn that the rumors of an 'earlier' family were true about my grandfather -- he was a truck driver and womanizer even after his marriage to my Grandmother.

He never talked about his family. This has lead to all sorts of rumors -- including that he was illegally in the U.S.

I alsow would not be surprised if someone told me he had African American blood -- and could just 'pass' as a dark skinned white man. I really wish I could post a picture of him with this.

Anyway if anyone is still watching this board I would love to hear from you.

There is a woman named "Thelma Ollie" listed in my great-grandmother's Bible. She attended my great-great-grandfather's (James Madison Dixson) funeral in St. Louis, Missouri on Wednesday, 8p.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 3100 Bell Avenue. The date was December 28, 1966.

Thelma Ollie also signed the guest book. She put her address as 3128 Rolea, also in St. Louis, Missouri.

I am searching for my grandfathers brother,Olli, Arthur who left Finland 5.1.1901. He was born 1880 in Wasa, west coast Finland. He propably went to Michigan or Minnesota. I don`t know really anything else about him.

The J.is very prominent in my family name but it is used as initials only. We are a Black family from Louisiana. I have always wondered about the blue eyes that run in our family. Exceedingly high cheekbones and olive complexion. Please let me hear more about physical details.

I am an AfricanAmerican from Chicago, maiden name is OLLIE. Dad (RC Ollie) is from MS, his dad was Harry OLLIE, mother was Josephine Meyers. Years ago, I met a white man with the same last name, and he told me that the name Ollie is from the Finnish name Olala (pronounced O-LAY-lah). Kinda weird when you run into one of the slaveowners' descendants, eh?

James B. Ollie, had a son Buford Ollie. Possibly from KY or TN circa 1890's. Maybe had a wife by the name of Mamie Holden. This is all new to me. I was seaching Garst/Holden line when I found some notes that said my GG Grandmother may have been married to an Ollie. If true it must not have lasted for very long. Does this ring a bell with anyone? even remotely?

late in life.... and there has always been
talk that he'd had another family... and we
don't know what his heritage was... I've
been told, Albanian, and some times Italian,
but no confirmation on those. I believe he
was born sometime between 1865 and 1880...
I plan to get more info next month when I
make a 'feild trip' to my mother's home town.

My maiden name is Ollie. All that we know of the Ollie Family Tree stops at my Great-Great-Grandfather Joesph Ollie whom deserted or was deserted by his wife and son. We are from Louisiana and of French decent(we think). My Grandfather just made 80 years old and his name is William Louis Ollie Jr. I know this does not help directly with your search but the name Ollie is not very common and I had to write just in case.

Trying to find information on Jason J. Ollie

Jason J. Ollie, was my grandfather.
I never knew him, but knew all five of his
children.
My mother, Helen, the middle child
and the only girl.
Her older brothers, Roy, and George are both
dead now.
Her younger brothers, twins, Howard is gone,
but Harry is still living.
Jason's wife was Edna... I'm not sure of her
maiden name I believe it was Waldren.
I do not know where or when Jason was born,
his children always said he was closed
mouthed and never shared his past... I don't
know his parents names, or even is he has any
brothers or sisters...
He settled in Iowa, some time in the first two
decades of the 1900's.
Any information that may let me know more about
him would be welcome.
