Ida Kristina Olsdotter

Ida was born 19 Oct 1865 in Sorby Nedra, Stora Kil parish, Varmland, Sweden. After her parents died she and her sister Thilda were raised by an aunt, Maria Nilsdotter. On 31 Aug 1883 Ida was given her "utflytt" to go to America. Ida's sister Thilda was my great-grandmother, and I just found out Ida came to the United States. I have tracked this family back to the beginning of usable records and will gladly trade for information on Ida's descendants.

Hugh - Your info. was sent to me, but it was in Norwegian. Is there a way to see it in English on those sites? I would like to try to find out something about my Family who was from Lenvik. Their name was NILSEN. Simon was born in Lenvik on Oct. 3, 1862. I think his real name was spelled "Simens." He was married to Hausina (Ronning). I don't have much info. on Simon's Parents. They were Sohpie (spelled Sofie) (Andersen) NILSEN. His Father was Nils Benjamin NILSEN. Sophie was also born in Lenvik, on June 6, 1841. Nils was born in Dyroy, Norway. His birth date is July 9, 1836. Married Aug. 6, 1862, in Lenvik. That is all I have for Simon's Parents. I would like to know more about Sophie and Nils, and their Families if possible. I think that they had four Children together. I would like to find out if there was possibly more Children. Thanks for your help! I appreciate it.

I am wondering if Olsdotter could be also be spelled Olsdrotter? Or is it a totally different name? I am trying to find out info. on a Karen (OLSDROTTER) THORESEN. She was married to a Hans THORESEN. They had a Daughter named Hausine Oline Caroline (Hansen) Nilsen. Hausine was born on Aug. 14, 1868 in Trondheim. I do not know if I have the place correct in Norway, it could be Troms. I am not sure. Hausine married Simon B. Nilsen in Lenvik on June 7, 1889. They had six Children. My Grandma Selma was one of their Children. I do NOT have anymore info. on Hans or Karen (Olsdrotter) THORESEN. I am trying to get birth dates for both of them, and possibly a marriage date. Also where in Norway are they from. If anyone could help me, I would appreciate it!

Clara was my maternal great-grandmother. The only record I have is the entry into the church book at the time my grandfather, Johan Fredrik Larsson (Stevenson in the US) was baptised in 1873. This was in St Johannes parish in Stockholm. At that time she is listed as 35 years old, wife of Jan Petter Larsson. She died when my grandfather was very young- somewhere between 1873 and 1881. I'm hoping to locate at least her death record.

The names you have listed are so common to Swedish family histories alone that without further information it could take you a long time to find them (they might not even be Swedish). I have several Olsdotters in my trees and several of each of the two first names, but not with the dates you list. Do you have any idea of the Lan from which they came? If you don't, do you have some idea as to when they emigrated, to where and via what ports? I've traced one family member back across the Atlantic before finding his original residence in Sweden and he was perhaps 40 miles from other relatives origins.

Ellen may have had a twin, and she married Isaac Tyndall Peltz in Chicago, Ill, settled in South Bend, Indiana.

Nils Henrick Forsberg's parents are Andrew Forsberg and Mary Olson.

Edward Forsberg is my uncle, by marriage. I have not done much more research on this line, as this is a side branch to my tree. But when I find information, related by marriage, I always add my discoveries (could help others down the line).

Hope this helped some, have a great day. Nadine

Olsdotter/Jonsson Oland to Baltimore

I am researching my great grandfathers family. He came to the US in 1885/6. The information I have is as follows:

The sailor Nils Peter Jonsson (b. 1840, in Bredsattra) moved to Katarina parish in Stockholm and returned to Bredsattra and settled in the village of Gatebo where he met wife Brita Kajsa Olsdotter(b.1842, in Sörby ). They married in 1864. In 1866 they moved from Gatebo to own their own farm in Ormöga village (at the present time owned by Ivan Petterson). In 1885, Nils Peter, wife, 4 sons and 2 daughters immigrated to the US. The sons, were: Johan Alfred (b. 1869), Nils August (1871), Anders Fredrik(1874) Ernst Julius(1882). One son, Olaf peter (1864) stayed in Sweden and moved to Stockholm in 1883. (he had 2 children, Helmar and Elsa. Elsa married Gunnar Lannmark). The two daughters were Ida Maria(1876) and Elna Karolina(1879). Some of the family stayed in Baltimore, MD, while others went to Upperville, VA and St. James MN.

All of this information was found on a piece of paper written in Swedish and translated by Elsa Lannmark.

I want to find out as much as I can about this family and any remaining cousins.

Carin/Karin Olsdotter

Karin Olsdotter born either March or Aug. 29th 1834 in Grangsbo, Alfta Parish, Gavleborg
Father:Olof Pehrsson Bom died 13 Feb 1880 in Sweden Mother: Karin Persdotter
died 12 DEC 1885 in Sweden.

This daughter was endentured to a family that was an original Janssonist Settler in Bishop Hill Ill.
She was 12 or 13 at the time. Passport was granted on September 10, 1846 and ship arrived in New York March 20th 1847.
Karin had 4 syblings Per, Olof, Jonas, Margta, all last name Olsson

My GGG Grandmother "Catharine Olson" Married Dennis Condreay in Henry Co., Weller Township, Illinois
in 1859. The same township and county that Bishop Hill is located.
Catharine Olson Condreay is listed in the 1910 Census in Shawnee Ok. age 77 with my GG grandmother, "Sarelda Condreay Stoeppleman" I am still looking for her death record.

Our family "story" is that Catharine came to America "Bishop Hill" as and endentured servant at a very young age.
The family she was endentured to died on the trip and she was orphaned at the colony.
The name she always went by was Catharine Olson which there is no listing on the Bishop Hill Census for 1850.
Yet I believe that Karin and Catharine are used as the same name, and there are several Karins' listed on that census without a last name and there are several that are Olsdotter, with the approximate same age.

I believe that Karin Olsdotter as listed is my GGG Grandmother, Catharine Olson Condreay.

The rest of the "Story" is that she was to make her fortune and send for the rest of the family, which did not
happen.

Catherines children were, Caroline, Walter, Saralda, Mathew, and Edward Phillip

Any Connection here for you??

Erin Anne Rager
lunarcal@pacbell.net
209-521-7246
