BETTENDORF, Iowa - Beverly Jane Olson, 66, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000, at her home. Services will be at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Ostrem of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Burial will be at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.
Mrs. Olson was born June 20, 1933, in Grandview, the daughter of Ralph and Thelma Kurriger Smull. She married DeWayne Karl Olson on May 4, 1952, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was born and raised in Muscatine. She moved to Eldridge 6 years ago to live with her daughter and recently moved to Bettendorf. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine, the Ladies of the Elks and the Women of the Moose. She belonged to several special card club groups and enjoyed Bingo. She volunteered at the Quad Cities Botanical Center and for the American Heart Association.
She loved children and briefly did day care. She loved her grandchildren.
She was office manager for a construction company, legal secretary for Gary Woodward, she worked as a secretary for Monsanto as they were building their first plant, and co-owned the Balloon Boutique out of her home.
Survivors include a son, Michael Olson and his wife, Lisa, of London, England; two daughters, Susan Purdy and her husband, Pat, of Eldridge and Kathy Testrake and her husband, Mark, of Letts; four grandchildren, Tara and Jon Testrake, Nathan Purdy and Andrew Olson; her mother, Thelma Sylvester of Davenport; a sister, Marjorie Wheeler and her husband, Robert, of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Smull; step-father, Myrl Sylvester; her husband, DeWayne Olson; a sister, Marilyn Smull; and a sister-in-law, Rosalyn Wichers.
