Does anyone know of an extensive Olson Family Tree online?

Years and several computers ago, I'd found a very large Olson family tree with my great grandfather's genealogy.
Unfortunately I've lost the link, and haven't had any luck re-finding it through web searches.

Our branch came from Sweden, and the website went back many generations into Sweden.

I have relation that was a Carrie Olson, who also went by Gorgenson and Anderson. I have found that Gorgenson is also spelled Jorgensen. She had a brother named Peter. I don't know if she was married to a peter at one time, but her husband that I am searching is Charles Johnson. We are talking about her date being b. Oct 9, 1865 She married Charles in 1882 of Course unless Charles name was Peter at one time, if you have searched at all you experienced name changes.

I am trying to track down relative of my grandmother, Mary Amelia Olsen (b 1912) Her siblings are Carolina (b1905), Winifred (b1906), Margaret E (b1908), James O (b1909), Georges (b1911), Dorothy M (b1911) Clifford O (b1915), L Clifford (b 1915), Lena L (b1917), Margaret L (b1918), Theodore H (b1919) and Agnes (b1922). The eldest were born in North Dakota, the youngest near Seattle. She married Oscar Melly and later Joseph DeLuca. Her parents were Ole Olsen (or Olson or Evanssen) and Mary Jane Walton.

Dear Connie, The Hannah Olson that I am related to had two sisters - Bengta/Bessie and Karna. She did not have a sister named Malena. I do not know where the Hanna Olson that I am related to lived. Even though "my" Hannah came from the Skane area of Sweden, too, I do not think your Hannah Olson and my Hannah Olson are the same people. If I find out otherwise - I will get back to you on that. My gt. grandmother, Malena (unknown maiden name, unknown birthdate) West She was born in the Skane area of Sweden (southern most Sweden). Her sister was named Hannah (unknown married name) Olson. She and her husband lived in Manhattan, KS. Their youngest child was Ben Olson. Did your Hannah Olson live in Manhattan, KS? The 1855 birthdate you list for Hannah could make her the Hannah Olson I am looking for.

Hi I am trying to find out any information on my great-grandfather Svante Olsson b: 1850. He married Johanna Albertina Samuelsdotter (b: 1855) and they had 5 boys: Oskar Selvin 1884; Johannes Algot 1886; Artur Valfrid 1892; Olof Einar 1896; and Viktor Leander 1889. They were all born in Goteborg, Sweden in Forshalla parish. I know that some of them came to United States and to Canada and my grandfather, Olof Einar Olson ended up living in Canada and died in 1985. My grandfather never spoke of his family - it is through census records that I have managed to get this far. Any help from any source would be greatly appreciated. In particular I am looking for exact dates of birth, marriage records, and relatives.

I am sorry, I don't know this. I got a box of pictures from my great great aunt and they were family and friends. I do have a few Olson's on my tree, but was hoping to compare notes to see if there is a connection.

My family has alot of Johnson's, both Swedish and Norwegian. I have some postcards from some Olsons in the Iola area too.

Is there a connection between these names? It seems like a daughter Anna (Johnson)LaRoche has Mary Olson down as a mother with father Charles Johnson. Yet Charles Johnson has wife as Carrie Anderson-maiden name? Charles and Carrie lived in the UP of Michigan and also in Wisconsin. Anna Married Frank LaRoche from Canada and lived in Wisconsin. Anna's dob and marriage are the same as for daughter of Charles and Carrie Johnson. Did they use names interchangeably?

This is the first time I have seen this site and
I just read your post re: Olaf Olson. He was the father of my great-great grandmother, Brita Lovisa. She married Carl Jansson(Johnson), lived in Burnett county Wisconsin, and their son was Carl 'Emil' Johnson. (So it would appear we are related....distantly.
I have been looking for any "stories" about these distant relatives. I have dates and locations for many of them, but the 'human interest' stories are lacking. Do you have anything like that?

My Great-Great Grandmother Mathilda (went by Tillie) Steichen (maiden name Olson/Oleson) had a sister and I'm trying to find her. In Tillie's obituary (1911) it mentions "one sister living in Missoula Mont. and an aunt at Mankato". I haven't found her aunt either.

I don't know when her sister was born or her name, although the first name could be Nellie born abt. 1857 in Norway, Syverny or Alsisina (sp.) born abt. 1874/5 in Minnesota, or Bertha born abt. 1879 in Minnesota.

If her sister was born in Norway, she would have immigrated about 1868. The date is per Tillie's obituary although I haven't found the records. Also, if her sister was born in Norway, there is a good chance she was born near Romedahl Headmarken. This is where Tillie indicated she was born. I don't have the birth record for Tillie either to confirm the location.

If she was born in Minnesota, she was likely born near Mankato, MN which is in Blue Earth County.

Their father was Simon (or Simeon) Olson/Oleson. I'm finding the first and last name spelled with and without the e in the census records. Simon is consistent about indicating he was born in Norway. Simon is listed in the 1875 and 1880 census in Mankato, Blue Earth County, MN along with a woman named Bertha born in Norway, presumably his wife and their mother. In 1885 the family is in Alliance, Clay County, MN.

I'm hopeful this individual is familiar to someone and we can make a connection.

Olson OLIVIA — Bernice Florence “Bernie” Olson, 90, of Olivia, died Monday at her home.

The service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church in Olivia. Burial will be in the Olivia Cemetery.

Visitation will be for two hours prior to the service at the church. Arrangements are with Dirks-Blem Funeral Service of Olivia.

She was born Dec. 18, 1918, in Bird Island to Peter H. and Anna (Firle) Smith. She graduated from Bird Island High School in 1937.

She married Joseph Merrill Taylor on Oct. 1, 1938, in Plankinton, S.D., and they lived on a farm north of Olivia. Following her husband’s death in 1960, she lived on the farm and worked in town at Wingates.

She married Ernest Olson on June 5, 1971, and they lived in Olivia. They owned and operated the Olivia Bowling Center for many years. Ernie died in 1995.

She was a member of Cross of Calvary Lutheran Church and the Quilters Along the Yellowstone Trail.

She is survived by her daughter: Sandra (and Glenn) Pletcher of Vermillion; her son: Douglas Taylor of Danube; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; stepdaughter: Sharon (and Donald) Dohrer; sister: Bette (and Dean) Pletcher of Long Lake; and a brother: Leo (and Nellie) Smith of Bird Island.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, one sister and two brothers.

Harold Raymond Olson was born May 5, 1907 in Burwick, Iowa (Polk County), the son of Swan and Amanda (Vigert) Olson. He and his family moved to the Ayrshire area where he attended country school.
On June 2, 1937, Harold was united in marriage to Cleo Darr at the United Methodist Church Parsonage in Ayrshire. The couple made their home southwest of Ayrshire where they raised their children. Harold loved farming. It was his work, his passion and his hobby. He retired from farming in 1978, and he and Cleo moved to Ayrshire. Harold enjoyed visiting and having coffee with family and friends. He would keep busy by going to the family farm and helping out wherever needed. Harold loved to spend time with his grandchildren, and he made sure no one had an empty stomach. Harold was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ayrshire. He served as the Grand Marshall of the Ayrshire Quasquicentennial in 2007.
On June 15, 2009, Harold passed away at the Palo Alto County Hospital in Emmetsburg. Left to cherish his memory are his two sons: Vernon (Susan) of Dickens, IA and Garry (Mary) of Ayrshire; a brother, Russell of Spencer; sister, Florence Root of Spencer; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cleo in 1980; son, Raymond; three brothers: Axel, Carl and Ted; four sisters: Mildred Olson, Daisy Peterson, Anna Dyer and Ellen Ricklefs; and two infant grandsons: Jerry Lynn Olson and Vernon Olson, Jr.

Looking for information on Eliza Oleson. I know she lived for a time in Ashland, WI in 1887. She married Knute Johnson on Dec 27, 1887 in Ashland. The marriage lasted less than a year. She moved to St. Paul, MN and had a baby (Katie) on Oct. 30, 1888. The baby was put up for adoption. I believe in 1893 she was living in Michigan. I don't have a birth date or any other information. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

OK, but it was rather common that Olofsson became Olson in US. Are you sure of his birthdate? That Gustaf Rudolf I was talking about was born 31st of May 1884 and baptised 6th of June 1884 so his mother was not dead then. He also lived just outside Malmö in census 1900 and had a sister with name Anna.
So therefore I thaught it could had been the man you asked for.

Here is a man who could be the one you are asking for, but the dates or not similar to yours.
Gustaf Rudolf Olofsson born 05/31/1884 and baptised 006/06/1884 in the parish Tingsås, Kronobergs county.
His father was Olof Sonesson b 10/03/1845 in Hyby, Malmöhus county and mother Nilla Svensdotter b 10/14/1848 in Tingsås.
The mother died 11/1271887 and the father 03/10/1895.
In census 1900 this Gustaf Rudolf lived in the parish Höör, Malmöhus county.
Of course i don´t know if this is the right man, but perhaps.

ALEDO, Ill. -- Ola Mae Olson, 84, formerly of Joy, Ill., died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at the Mercer County Nursing Home.

Services will be at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The Rev. John Crede of the Aledo United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Peniel Cemetery in Joy.

Memorials may be made to Mercer County Nursing Home or the Alzheimer's Association.

Mrs. Olson was born Oct. 18, 1915, in Hardire County, Ky., the daughter of James Oscar and Gertie Mae Hobbs Eggen. She married Carl R. Olson on April 21, 1937, in Monmouth, Ill. He died Nov. 29, 1995.

She graduated from the Joy High School. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in farming. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and loved her family and especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Lincoln and her husband, Bob of Aledo; two sons, Arthur Olson and his wife, Pat and Gerald Olson Sr. and his wife, Merlene, all of Joy; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and a brother, Otis Eggen and his wife, Rita of Aledo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two grandchildren, and a brother.

Owen Olson

Muscatine, Iowa - Owen Lovell Olson, 90, of Muscatine, died Saturday, October 14, 2000 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

A Memorial Service will be at Grace Lutheran Church. The Reverend Leif Pohl of Grace Lutheran Church and The Reverend John P. Gallagher of St. Mathias Catholic Church will officiate the service. A private family burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery prior to the memorial service.

Visitation will be at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund, Grace Lutheran Church, St. Mathias Catholic Church, or the Hearing Impaired School.

Owen Lovell Olson was born November 23, 1909 on a farm homesteaded by his great grandfather near Mapleton, Minnesota. His parents were Olaf B. Olson and Alma Wisley Olson. His marriage to Helen Ruth Miller took place in West Union on August 18, 1937.

He graduated from Luther College, Decorah, Iowa, in 1932. While there he was active in athletics, lettering in three sports. He was elected to the Luther College Athletic Hall of Fame. He earned a Masters degree at the University of Iowa in 1939. Additional credits were earned at the University of Northern Iowa, Drake University, and the University of California, Los Angeles.

He began his teaching career in West Union, Iowa, where he taught mathematics and coached. He was superintendent at Hawkeye, Iowa, and Sheffield, Iowa. He came to Muscatine in 1944 to serve as junior high principal for the next 31 years. He retired in 1975 after 42 years in the field of education.

He was a life member of the Iowa State Teachers Education Association and a life member of the National Education Association. He was active in educational organizations throughout his teaching career. He served on a committee selected by the Iowa State Department of Education that produced a handbook for the junior high schools in the state of Iowa.

He is a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he served several terms on the church council.

He is a member of the Elks Lodge #304 where he was chairman of the Youth Activities Committee for an extended period. His long membership in the Muscatine Power Boat Club is evidence of his love of water created in his early life around the lakes of Minnesota.

He is survived by his wife Helen, of Muscatine; one son Robert Olson, a retired teacher living in Georgia with his wife, Wanda; one daughter Jane Ann O'Toole who lives on a farm near Muscatine with her husband, Jim; four grandchildren Kurt and Kristin Olson and Jonathan and Sarah O'Toole; two step grandchildren Michelle and Denise; six great grandchildren.

He is preceded by his parents, one brother Wesley who passed away in 1984, and one great grandson.

Mrs. Olson was born June 20, 1933, in Grandview, the daughter of Ralph and Thelma Kurriger Smull. She married DeWayne Karl Olson on May 4, 1952, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was born and raised in Muscatine. She moved to Eldridge 6 years ago to live with her daughter and recently moved to Bettendorf. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Muscatine, the Ladies of the Elks and the Women of the Moose. She belonged to several special card club groups and enjoyed Bingo. She volunteered at the Quad Cities Botanical Center and for the American Heart Association.

She loved children and briefly did day care. She loved her grandchildren.

She was office manager for a construction company, legal secretary for Gary Woodward, she worked as a secretary for Monsanto as they were building their first plant, and co-owned the Balloon Boutique out of her home.

Survivors include a son, Michael Olson and his wife, Lisa, of London, England; two daughters, Susan Purdy and her husband, Pat, of Eldridge and Kathy Testrake and her husband, Mark, of Letts; four grandchildren, Tara and Jon Testrake, Nathan Purdy and Andrew Olson; her mother, Thelma Sylvester of Davenport; a sister, Marjorie Wheeler and her husband, Robert, of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Smull; step-father, Myrl Sylvester; her husband, DeWayne Olson; a sister, Marilyn Smull; and a sister-in-law, Rosalyn Wichers.

She began her teaching career on a high school normal training certificate in a country school in Fayette County. She later taught six years in Clermont, until her marriage. She did substitute teaching while living in Hawkeye and Sheffield. After moving to Muscatine in 1944, she did substitute teaching until accepting a regular position that covered a span of 22 years. She retired in 1973 from West Junior High.
She was a member of the St. Mathias Church, Muscatine Lady Elks, and Muscatine Area Teachers Association. She was a life member of the Iowa State Teachers Association.
Helen enjoyed her cats, especially her last one, 'Snow', who moved to Bickford Cottage with her. She always enjoyed a good time and a good game of cards. Her family will remember her musical laugh and her love of music. She and Owen also enjoyed traveling and gardening together.
Survivors include one son, Robert O. Olson and wife, Wanda, of Villa Rica, Georgia; one daughter, Jane A. MARQUETTE, Nebraska - The Reverend Donald A. Olson, 76, Marquette, died Monday, June 5, 2006, as a result of an automobile accident near Central City.

Service will be at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church near Phillips, Neb. The Rev. Mark Dunham will officiate. Burial will be at the Monroe Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Wagner Funeral Home, Central City, Neb. Memorials may be made to the family.

Rev. Olson was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Aurora, Nebraska, the son of Joe E. and Alice T. Nelson Olson. He married Pauline L. Hendrickson on Dec. 29, 1953, in Holdrege, Nebraska. She preceded him in death Nov. 13, 2005.

He grew up in Aurora and attended school there. He furthered his education at Bob Jones University.

He entered the U.S. Air Force in 1951, serving during the Korean War. He received an honorable discharge in 1954.

He served as pastor to Evangelical Free churches in South Carolina; Burnabey, British Columbia, Canada; Muscatine and Sioux City, Iowa, Clarks, Nebraska; Louviers, Colorado; Phillip and Milesville, South Dakota; and finally Mamre Evangelical Free Church, Marquette, Neb. He also served in administrative capacities in several Christian schools across the United States.

He and his wife were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in December 2003. He loved to sing and serve the Lord in that capacity as well as at the pulpit. He loved his four grandchildren, McKenzie Olson and Gretchen, Gabrielle and Carrie Brosman.

Survivors include a son, Joel Olson and wife, Tracie, of Coerd'alene, Idaho; a daughter, Cindy Brosman and husband, Cory, of Phillips, Nebraska; four grandchildren; three brothers, John Olson and wife, Alayne, of Aurora, Wayne Olson and wife, Betty, of Virginia and Vern Olson and wife, Doris, of Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Florence E. 'Gertrude' Olson, 90, Muscatine, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004, at Unity Hospital.

The Rev. Michael Spangler will officiate the services.

There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church and Valley View Manor.

Mrs. Olson was born Sept. 6, 1914, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George J. and Gertrude B. Maguire Frymire. Due to the untimely death of her parents at an early age, she was raised by her grandparents in Monmouth, Ill. She married Glenn Olson Aug. 10, 1933, in Monmouth.

She had been a resident of the Muscatine area since 1961. Before moving to Muscatine, she farmed for 27 years in the Monmouth and Little York, Ill. area. She was employed as a beautician from 1964-70 at Tint 'n Curl. She was also employed at Muscatine General Hospital for 18 years as a seamstress, sewing uniforms, curtains and surgical and medical garments.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and Rebecca Group in Little York and Muscatine. She enjoyed working in her garden, sewing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Glenn 'Andy' Olson and wife Gladys of Aiken, S.C., and Richard G. Olson and wife Colleen of Windsor, Conn.; two daughters, Joyce K. Williams and husband Sheldon of Columbus Junction and Patricia A. Khanna and husband Pran of Ringling, Okla.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Frank ''Chick'' Olson, 78, Keithsburg, died Sunday, March 26, 2006, at his home.

The Rev. John Thieryoung will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Keithsburg, with military services conducted by Mercer County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1571.

He was born Jan. 6, 1928, in Bald Bluff Henderson County, Ill., the son of Ed and Elizabeth Haney Olson. He married LaVonne Smith on Feb. 21, 1969, in Oquawka, Ill.
He attended Henderson County schools.

He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean conflict.

He farmed all his life and owned the Bald Bluff Historical Spot opening his farm and bluff area to the general public. He assisted with the Henderson County Heritage Trail Bald Bluff climb for 20 years. He maintained the bluff and his cabin after retirement making daily trips to the area. He enjoyed playing cards, traveling and visiting.

Survivors include his wife; two stepsons, Dennis Smith of Moline, Ill. and Gerald Smith and wife Cindy of Bowling Green, Ky.; three grandchildren, Paul Smith and wife Alisha of Belle Plaine, Iowa, Annalise Smith of Moline and Melissa McGhee of Florida; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Martha Pratt of Burlington, Iowa, Edith Diehl and Mary Steele, both of Monmouth, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Lelia Olson of Monmouth; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Olson was born Jan. 14, 1920, in Graettinger, the daughter of John WIlliam and Martha Mattie Brinkman Pegum. She married Arnold Harry Olson Jan. 1, 1945, in Ladora. He preceded her in death in 1994.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and enjoyed making crafts for her friends and family. She attended the Council Bluffs School for the Deaf.

Survivors include two daughters, Lois Olson of Muscatine and Debbie Caldwell and husband, Charles, of Moline, Ill.; and a brother, William Pegum of Muscatine.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Judy Mae Olson; and a sister, Elizabeth Hansen.

Service at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Funeral Home. The Rev. Jim Trosen will officiate. Masonic Rites will be presented by Iowa Lodge No. 2 A.F. & A.M. Pallbearers are David Pottoff, Ron Rode, Kent Graham, John Miller VI, Mike Rudolph, Don Kelly and Mike Dahnke. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Bosch, Gil Lawrence, Robert Richmond and Ralph Zorn. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Mr. Olson was born on May 9, 1923, in Superior, the son of Herbert E. and Vinnie Gull Olson. He married Marjorie Jean Rode on May 7, 1949, at First Baptist Church, Muscatine.

His family operated Olson's General Merchandise store in Superior, late 1800s to late 1960s.
He graduated from the Superior Consolidated School System, attended Estherville Junior College, Buena Vista College and graduated from Iowa State University.

He was a chemical engineer at Grain Processing Corporation for more than 40 years, retiring in 1985.

He loved to cook, play cards, read and work in the wood shop. He enjoyed traveling with his family, socializing with friends and family and sampling local restaurants.

He was a Muscatine Power and Water trustee; director and part owner of Double M Rentals Ltd.; and a director of the Muscatine Masonic Temple Association.

He was a 50-year plus member of the American Chemical Society, Elks Lodge No. 304, Iowa Lodge No. 2 A.F. & A.M., Triune Lodge No. 641 A.F. & A.M., and Washington Chapter No. 4, R.A.M.; member of Webb Council No. 18, R. & S.M., DeMolay Commandery No. 1, K.T., Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, S.J. USA-32 degree, Kaaba Temple, Mohassan Grotto; charter member of Muscatine High 12; honorary member of Arlington Heights Masonic Lodge No. 1162. He attended Faith United Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Tracey Ann Potthoff and her husband, David, of Western Springs, Ill.; a son, Robert Jr. of Mount Prospect, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Margaret and Max Potthoff.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

I am looking for any information about my grandfather's parents, Gustav Rudolf Olson. He was born 6/6/95 in Malmo, Ostergotland, Sweden. He immigrated to the US when he was around 13 and moved to South Dakota (or maybe Nebraska) to live on his sister Anna's ranch. He served in the US Army in WWI, married Caroline "Carolyn" Ragna Olson, and lived in Minneapolis, MN. They had a daughter, Carol Ann Olson, in 1945. He owned a Hoover business, also. We had heard that the family in Sweden's name had changed to Pearson within the last twenty years. I would appreciate hearing from you, especially if you're related!

Delos Erik Olson was my great grandfather who was married to great granmother, Hilda (Ida) Monson for about 1 year bfore he died on Apr. 2 1902. He passed 3 months before my grandfather Delos Clifford Olson was born. Any help would be appreciated.

Wow, that is great! I am so glad to have found out who this is. I have some other pictures of Olson's and others in the Iola area that I was not able to identify with my great great aunt Blanche.
