Your posting is fascinating. My grandfather,
Karl Edwin Olsson(b. 1895( was born in Arboga, Västmanland
Sweden. Both he and his father (Karl Herman([b. 1875] Olsson)
were master carpenters and cabinet makers. Grandfather's
grandfather, Karl Fredrik Olsson was born around
1850, but we do not have exact details yet.

Lars Erick(b.1824) and Victor(b.1831) are possibilities
as a father to Karl Fredrik based on the dates. In addition
I have a Luther's Catechism published in 1835 with the name
Lars Erick written by a child in it.

Julie, do you know of any connections to Arboga or any of the
other nearby cities and towns in western Västmanland, Sweden?
Do you have any other information about Lars Erick's or Victor's children?
These two seem to provide the most reasonable possibilities if there
is a connection between our two Olsson families.
Thanks.

I don't know of any connections to Arboga or any other nearby cities and towns in Vastmanland, Sweden, but here are the families of Lars Erik and Victor.
Lars Erik Olsson b. 3/2/1824 Westmanland Province, Sweden
m. Maria Christina Vastman
Lars ans Maria came to Westmanland, Maine in 1888. Lars took the last name of Lett (latt). His children were Karolina Wilhemina Lett b. 5/31/1862 Kungs Barkaro Vastmanland, Victor Lett (possibly had a farm in Westmanland, Maine later bought by Radcliffe Holmquist), Carl Lett, and Maria Lett.
Victor Olsson b. May 1831
m. Anna Maria Bostrom
d. April 1903 Westmanland Plantation, Aroostook County, Maine
He took the name of Lindberg in the United States. His children were Louisa, Anders, Erik, Emma, Christina, and Anna Olsson.
I hope this helps you.
Julie

Hello.

I am curious re: your post.

I am looking for info re: my g. grandfather Fredrik C. Olsson born Hudiksvall, Sweden in 1882. He came to the US with his brother Karl in 1902 via Ellis Island. He changed his name to Fred Fredrickson, married Signe Anderson, and settled in Minnesota.

Does this ring a bell for you?

Since my Posting in February 2000 I have been able to trace my Olssons back another 6 generations. The family originated in the Arboga area since at least 1740. There's no known connection to Hudiksvall anywhere or any known relatives who ended up in Minnesota. Sorry there are no bells that might help you.
-Eric.

Before I write out everything I have could you please confirm that you are "still out there" at a reachable email address. I am a descendant of this family-the great grandaughter of Sophie, who was born in the parish of Dingtuna, in Westmanland Province and was the daughter of Andrews G. Olsson. I have done extensive research on this family and have found the actual birth records on nearly all of the family in Sweden, including Ander's mother "Katrina Enrot"-which by the way was not her birth name, but was only one of several different names that she called herself throughout her life. ( I think I've found about 10 of those names -so far). It was very interesting to note that as one follows her around Sweden, throughout the course of her life (through the Swedish Parish Household records) how she modified her name. But, yes, this was always the same woman, as is proven by the matching birth and marriage dates, as well as each of the children's names and their birth dates. I would very much like to hear from you, and anyone else related to this line. I am sure I have nearly all the descendents that you could possibly want-from all 9 children of Anders and Johanna. I also have several pictures of Anders and Johanna and their children. By the way did you know that portraits of Johanna and Anders hang in the New Sweden Historical Museum? Thank you in advance for getting back to me.
