Hi, my father was George O'Melia. I have been to the house they grew up in Watervliet many times when I was young. Eleanor lived in the house until she died. My father moved from watervliet to Troy NY. My dad said that William was killed by a car as a child. My grandparents Norman and Catherine were married in Troy in 1909. Norman was a cable car driver. They attended St. Patick's Church.

I am helping a friend of mine - Carol Sperl - find information on her family and I was directed to your message. Her mother's name was Helen O'Melia. (She never met her). Her grandparents were Patrick and Ellen (she never met them either). I know your message is dated 13 years ago!! I hope you are still out there and reading this.

My branch of the O'Melia family supposedly came from County Wicklow and then settled in the Rockaway Township area of Morris County, NJ.

Not a common name. Only 15 O'Melia entries in the 1901 census.

This could be part of my family. My Father and I grew up in Kennett Square PA. His father was John O'Melia. I am not sure of his date of birth, and where he grew up. I do know that I have a relative Joe O'Melia who lived currently in the Leigh Valley area.

It seems that my Henneghans were one generation earlier than your Michael. I don't have much to add from prior posts. I want to try to for baptismal records for my grandmother and her brother and sister. The diocese hasn't yet found a marriage record. So maybe when I get a few more names I can get back in touch.

Hello, I have been off and on the internet for several years. Sorry that it has taken this long to reply. My Henaghan history is a little clearer now. My grandfather was Michael J. Henaghan. Born in County Mayo, April 7,1879. According to his naturalization papers, he was from Mocarra (spelling?). I do know that he had a brother named Pat,
(My dad said Pat owned a store or a pub in Ireland). He (Michael)was a railroad conductor, and lived in Pittsburgh. I think he may have had a sister named Lizzie. After my grandmother(Marie O'Melia) died around 1918, my father John and his brothers Michael, Thomas and Robert went to live with the McNamara's ( relatives). Michael and Thomas became priests eventually, but not Robert. I think that we are related to the Boyle family also. I think thats all, that I know so far. If you know any info about Henaghans please let me know. Susie

im trying to find lost famliy member under the o'melia name.i dont know if we are from ireland or the uk but i will give names and hopefuly it might click with someone.right im stuart o'melia born in preston in 1983 my dad was stephen gerard o'melia,my dad was born on the 10/07/57 in preston to james o'melia and elizbeth ( dont know elizbeth last name or if james and elizbeth marry at all) and i dont know whan my dads mum and dad were born sorry,i know of two sister of my dad but only know one of them which is christine o'melia (i dont know whan she was born or if she has marry anyone since,plz can anyone help.

Violet Annie O'Melia was born 31 Aug 1901 in Queensland to Michael and Dora (Jensen). My granddmother was Dora's sister Annie. Dora Ingeborg Jensen was born 23 Feb 1881 also in Qld to Anders Jensen and Christina Olena (Mickelsen) who married in Maryborough, Queensland 8 Nov 1873 but were both born in Denmark. Christina's parents were born in Norway.
I have more info on Dora's family in Qld and also some photos but I know nothing of Dora or Vi in NZ except that Vi married Percy Braithwaite.

I am just starting out looking at my familily tree and discoved this post. My grandparants were Percy and Violet (nee O'melia) but they lived in nightcaps New Zealand. I'm not sure if we are talking about the same people but it is a possibility. The dates would be right. Percy and Violet had two children, Ernest and Gladys. Ernest was my father. Were you able to track down any information. I would be very appreciative if you have. I can also provide details on my side of the family.

Hi Lorraine... I have compiled 70 pages on my Judge Families of Newfoundland. Traditional names in the family over the past 200 years have been Peter Judge,Joseph Judge, Margaret Judge,as well as William ,and the obvious(Patrick,Mary,Bridget). I have always suspect the PA Judges are connected to the Nfld. Judges but can't so far prove it. The fact that yours also have Peter and Margaret adds to the idea.
I am also looking for an Honora Judge who was from Nfld.,supposedly born there in the mid-1800s,moved temporarily(with her sister Bridget) to USA,and then later Honora married and lived in Montreal until she died about 1920.
Do you know if you have any Peter Joseph Judge,Joseph Peter,William Patrick,Joseph Francis,Francis Joseph,and similar ?

trying to research my maternal ancestors who are o'melias. family currently live in bradford, uk and i have little info to go on. found only o'melia in bradford in 1901 was thomas and family who later emmigrated to usa late 1800's. two children were born in usa then they returned to uk where more were born, but then they moved back to philadelphia with whole family in 1903. unsure if this is where they stayed? any info would help. thanks dan.

Hello,

I just googled my name and came across your email. My grandfather's name was Emerson O'Melia. He died when I was about 5 or 6 (I'm 28 now) but what I do know is that he lived in Montreal for awhile and had 5 children. I don't know much about his siblings but I'll ask my dad.
