I am an historian from Belgium, Europe. I am taking care of a grave
(adoption system made by the American Battle Monuments Commission) of a
fallen US soldier buried here in Belgium (at Henri-Chapelle cemetery).

The director of the cemetery asked me to do some search about him. I
found out he was from Bridgeport, Connecticut. A lady from the USA told
me you could bring some help in order to find informations.

Here is his name :

Alek ONISCHUK, born on 1921. Sergeant in U. S. Army Air Forces
(tailgunner in a B25). He was killed on december 25, 1944 during a mission.

The lady who helped me told this could be his family, based on a 1930
register :

Annie Onischuck 42 <--widow born [Austria crossed out] Poland
Peter Onischuck 16 <--born Connecticut. Father born Russia, mother
born Austria.
Mary Onischuck 14 <---born Connecticut. Father born Russia, mother
born Austria.
Sophie Onischuck 12 <---born Connecticut. Father born Russia, mother
born Austria.
Andrew Onischuck 10 <---born Connecticut. Father born Russia, mother
born Austria.
Aleck Onischuck 8 <---born Connecticut. Father born Russia, mother born
Austria. (it's our soldier)The lady who helped me told this could be his family, based on a 1930

Do you think you could provide some documentation about him ? Perhaps
birth/death certificate about him or his family ? Do you know if there
is still a relative of him alive ? Is he remembered somewhere in the
town ?

Thank you in advance,
Bernard Wilkin
