Man Found Dead After Car Crash
A 64 year old Calumet City man was believed to have been the victim of a heart attack Tuesday just before his car crashed into two other autos on Wentworth Avenue near 155th Street.
The police reported that John H. Ooms of 216 Webb St., was dead on arrival at St. Margaret Hospital, Hammond. His private physician reportidly told police the patient, a machinist at the Inland Steel Co., had been suffering from a heart aliment.
Ooms car was Southbound on Wentworth, police reported, when it swerved across the center line and struck a parked car owned by Ralph Brambos, 616 Price St., Calumet City.
The car then continued South and struck a Northbound car driven by Joseph Jerzyk, 953 Wentworth Ave., Calumet City. Jerzyk was reported uninjured.
Investigating officers were Bernard Zimmerman and Fred Wittenhaugen.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Lansing Christian Reformed Church, Lansing, with the Rev. Peter Holwerda officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Lansing.
Friends may call at the Schroeder Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, after 7 p.m. tonight and until 10 a.m. Friday.
Survivors include his widow, Hattie; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin De Vries, Lowell; two brothers, Gilbert of Demotte and Cornelius of Lansing; two sisters, Mrs. Louis Van Wieren of Lansing and Mrs. Braum Siersema of Griffith and four grandchildren.
