AUSTINTOWN – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 10, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church for Carmel (Orlando) DelliQuadri, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 6, 2014 with her loving family by her side, following a brief illness.

Carmel was born on Feb. 8, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio. (Mahoning County)

She was the daughter of the late Luciano and the late Merceda (Vechiarelli) Orlando

. She grew up on Youngstown’s Smokey Hollow neighborhood and followed the ethnic Italian heritage, along with her late parents, siblings, and close friends that she kept her entire life.

Carmel attended the Youngstown City Schools and catechism classes at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, where she was a current member.

On April 22, 1950, she married Giacinto DelliQuadri at the church.
She volunteered at St. Edwards Elementary School, serving hot lunches, and was an avid bowler in the 1970s.
She loved to cook and bake for her family, especially on Christmas Eve and other holidays, and loved to shop at the mall with her two daughters.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Linda (Joseph) Landers and Nancy (Timothy) Edwards, and a grandson, Timothy, whom she adored, all of Austintown, Ohio.

She also leaves her brothers John (Edith) Orlando of Liberty, Ohio, Anthony (Lisa) Orlando of Boardman, Ohio and Charles (Ruth) Orlando of Campbell, OH; a sister-in-law, Dolores Orlando of Liberty; and many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Giacinto, of 56 years, who died on July 25, 2006, and her beloved brothers Sabatino and Felix Orlando.

She was a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, who put family first, and cared deeply about all of them.

Calling hours will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday morning at the church for family and friends to give their condolences.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in both the SICU and PIC units at St. Elizabeth's Health Center and Hospice of the Valley for their dedicated care and compassion.

The family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Valley.
