They spelled the name Oermann.
Given names are Casper, Carl, William, Henry, Edward in both the German and English forms of the names. It is likely that we are related.
PLEASE NOTE, THIS WAS POSTED FOR REFERENCE ONLY. I AM NOT RELATED TO, NOR AM I RESEARCHING THIS FAMILY, I’VE ONLY DONE A COPY AND PASTE FROM OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER FYI.

THIS INFO HAS BEEN POSTED WITH THE PERMISSION OF THE EDITOR OF THE COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD.

Raymona Brown Orman
Posted: Friday, Apr 20, 2007 - 04:41:53 pm PDT

COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD, MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON STATE

Our beloved Raye went to our Lord on March 31, 2007, from Moses Lake at age 69. She was born July 16, 1937, in Albuquerque, N.M. to W.B. and Clara Price. She graduated high school in Moriaty, N.M., and business college in Albuquerque, N.M. Raye was an active, energetic, and hard-working lady. She retired in 1992 after working as a secretary for the cities of Tukwila, Chewelah, and Airway Heights, Wash. She moved to Moses Lake in 1991, and spent the rest of her life in this area. Raye had a fondness for being outdoors. She loved to camp, fish, take walks, tend to her lawn, garden, and numerous flowers. Always interested in new experiences, she traveled to various places, just to see new things and meet new friends. Never one to be content just sitting around doing nothing, Raye loved to go dancing, and loved music. Rarely did she miss a chance to hear her friends Bruce and Betsy Mullen play when they came to the area. Raye was a kind, generous, and loving soul. She would go out of her way to make everyone feel important, welcomed, cherished, and loved. She was the person who would see you having a bad day and do her best to lift your spirits anyway she could. Raye was previously married and had four children when she met Francis "Brownie" Brown. He also had four children of his own, which Raye instantly made her own. She never made a distinction between any of the eight, treating and loving them all equally. She and Brownie had many wonderful years and lots of special memories together before he passed away in 1998. In 2000, Raye met Alford N. Orman "Al Sr." They found a unique understanding, respect, and kinship in one another. They were married in Moses Lake on March 30, 2002. Al Sr. had three children of his own, and they became Raye's "kids" as well. Her abundance of love had more than ample room for them, and she treated them as equal as any of the others. Raye and Al Sr. shared many beautiful moments and memories together, and it was very rare to see one without the other. They worked together and played together every day, enjoying the short five years they were together.

Raye was a member of the Senior Center, the Elks, the Eagles Auxiliary, and the VFW Auxiliary. Raye was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, brother W.G. Price, and sister Ganda Faye Price. She leaves behind her husband, Al Orman Sr., sister Ruth Jones, sister-in-law Rachel Price, children Mel (Tina) Centers, Curt (Chris) Centers, Chuck Centers, Jan (Don) Devereaux, Blake Brown, Brian (Cindy) Brown, Tracey (Jim) Bashett, Vicki (Bob) Tasche, Al (Connie) Orman Jr., Brenda (Abdallah) Al-Daas, and Gregg Orman. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 28, 2007, at 1p.m. at the Elks Lodge, 814 N. Stratford Rd., Moses Lake.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Raymona Orman to Alzheimer's Disease Research, P.O. Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
Auman-Orman DNA Project

The main goal for this project is to help sort out all the Auman-Orman, Ahman, Aman, Amen, Amin, Ammon, Ammond, Arman, Armon, Awman, Ehrman, Oerman, Ohman, Ormond and all other variant spellings of the same name. Our objective is a standard one, to help any and all with the variant spellings of Auman-Orman to find missing family branches and to help point them in the right direction.

Y-chromosome DNA testing needs to be done by a male with the surname of Auman-Orman or one of the other variant spellings. The Y-chromosome is only carried by males and is passed from father to son. If you are a female researcher of this name, you will need to find a brother, father, uncle or cousin with one of Auman-Orman surname spellings to test for you.

I would like to invite any one with any of the varient spellings of the names Auman-Orman to join the Auman-Orman FamilyTreeDNA Project.

Arkansas Orman descendents

I am searching for any living descendents of Francis Morris Orman, grandaughter of Laura and Perry Morris of Morris Brothers Musical Comedy Co. I have a newspaper article about Laura (Ma) Morris from the Gazette that states she was living with her granddaughter, Fran Orman, Fran's husband Sam, and their son, Matt. There is no date on the article. My grandmother was in the show and I have quite a few pictures. Her name was Louise Shelton. She recently passed away and I found a lot of pictures in an old trunk in her attic.

I am looking for information about Andrew and Johanna (nee Gleeson) Orman (both born in Ireland) and their descendants. I have a reference to the christening of their daughter, Catherine (Catharinam?) in 1855 at Saint Peter, Montgomery, Daviess, Indiana; also they and some of their children (Roxana 12, Mary 10 (later married John Mccdonald), Susan 8, John 7, Sara 5) are in the 1860 census in Reeve Township in Daviess county. They were in Shawnee cty, Kansas in 1870 but I think they returned to Indiana?
I am researching this family for my son, J.P. Shriver. His grandmother, Annie Lou Halcomb Shriver was the daughter
of Minnie Pearl Anderson and Charles F. Halcomb. I was told that Minnie's parents names were Tom Anderson and Alice
(Wade).
I was just contacted by Barbara who responded to your post in 2000. I didn't know if you were still in contact. She said
Minnie Pearl went to live with the Orman's but doesn't think there was a legal adoption.

Lonnie,
Where did you find sources for your older generations? I sure could use some help with them. Michael Auman and Anna Margareta were the parents of Andrew Auman who was born in 1762 in PA. He and his 2nd wife, Mary Cagle were the parents of David Orman Sr who married first Zilphia Rogers Davis and then Johanna Toler Huffman in Clay Co., IN. My gg grandfather was Andrew Auman b 1808 in Moore Co., NC and died in Clay Co., IN in 1879. We now have DNA markers that match Jacob Auman, son of Andrew and Barbara Luther Auman, with Andrew and Nancy Comer Orman families. David Sr was the full brother of Andrew, Henry and Martin Orman, and Mary Orman Davis of Wapello Co., IA.
Mary
Mr. Sellers, Have you considered having your DNA tested? Some of the Orman's from down near Ottumwa have tested their DNA! If you want to participate please contact me at Mary2gard@aol.com and I will have a kit mailed to you. If you still haven't learned what you need to know by now, this would at least help you to wean out the families you don't connect with. The tests cost: $99 for 12 markers, and I think $171 for 25 markers. This is the one we recommend and the last 12 markers are another $59. I have had my brother Kenneth Orman test all 37! We do match the David Orman Sr of Wapello Co.,and Jacob Auman families of Randolph Co., NC. I wish you well in your search. Mary Gardner
