Joseph Clarke Orourke

I am looking for a Joseph Clarke Orourke, my Mom's dad. He married in Detroit MI to a Marion or Marian Wheeler, had one daughter Anita. Was not a kind man, my Mom disowned him and her mother about the time she got married at 17 (her mom had mental issues which were not helped by a unloving partner). My Dad says that she said he lived in Penn at one time. I was told that he was from hill folk, served in the Army during WWII in the US, he was too old to go over seas. She said that he was a bit older then her mother who was 23 in 1945. I met him once in 1972 or so, once. My Mom did not let us talk to him, in fact he came in - sat down for a short time, and then he was never seen by us again. I am not too interested in him, but I am interested in tracing the family line - and do not hold one persons actions against anyone else. My Mom passed away in'86.

Re: O'Roake in Iowa

I am trying to find a connection between ORoake's in Jasper, Co, Iowa and my Stanton relation. I was told they could be a connection.

Thomas and Catherine Stanton were born in Ireland, don't know where. I do know they were living in Perry Co., Ill in 1860 and was a miner and was in Jasper Co., by 1866 and a farmer. They had seven boys: Jim, Dan, Charles, Harry, Martin, George, and Thomas. The boys raised horses.

If you know of any connection please let me know.
