Hi Cheryl, the Patrick Orr in the "Indy Orrs" document that I have does not list his wife's name. It does list the children however, who were named Samuel, Joseph, Martha and Margaret. Doesn't sound like the same person you are looking for.

My great grandfather's name was Joseph Siwinski. His DOB is 2/21/1892 in Poland. Her arrived to the US approximately 1905. U.S. World War II Draft Registration Card ~ Lists that Joseph Siwinski's Age was 50 and at the time Owned a Bakery called Grabowski Bakery located at 5941 S. Looking for anyone related to the Reverend William Orr, b. 1830 in Co. Donegal who was a Roman Catholic priest in Cambridge, Mass. at St. Paul's Church for 30 years. His sister, Rose, was the housekeeper. There was a Patrick Orr, b. abt. 1871 who was the janitor-according to the 1900 Mass. census.They had a brother, Edward Orr, who settled in New Orleans, LA.
Their parents were Patrick Orr and Sarah Kerrigan (Carrigan) Orr who may have remarried a McDonagh in Galway.

I came across your post trying to complete my family tree. I am Ellen Orr’s grand-daughter, Stephanie Graves. Her son, Fred Graves is my father. My father practiced law in Miami along side of Jorge and Jack Orr. I'm sure my father can provide any information your looking for on Alexander Orr as well. My mother has a book named "Great Men of the South" which contains an article on the Orr Family and their accomplishments in Miami, FL. My great grandfather went by the name of James Orr although all his legal documentation has O.L. Orr believed to be Oscar Orr. I believe they lived in the NC mountains. I will try to see if I have any other information on the brothers. do you know who james married. My great grandfather married Sadie Turner. He had two sons Carroll Orr (my grandfather) and Jesse Orr.

The reply is 10 years in coming, but I believe she went to Fountain Green IL after John's death where she dies in 1855 (but probably Dec (NOT May). I have in possession a letter written Nov 25, 1855, by I.O.Campbell, written to relatives in Fannettsburg in which she is quite ill -- sounds like final stages of pancreatic cancer. Ann Elizabeth Orr was the daughter of William Orr & Elizabeth McElwain. She was born in 1827 in Logan Co., KY & married J. James Thompson b 1820 TN before 1845 when her mother died. They had 3 sons listed on the 1850 census in Logan Co.: Jesse b 1846, Thomas J. b 1848, & Unnamed Male b 1850. I can't find any of these family members after this census. Does anyone have more info?

North Carolina Orr Family

Looking for any information on the Orr family from Transylvania County, North Carolina area. My ggrandmother was Lara Jane Orr Carland (DOB: 4 May 1876; Died: 10 Sept 1961). Her death certificate lists Tom Orr as her father and her mother was Matlida Fowler. She also add a brother Tom and a sister Mary (married a Tucker).

While I don't know that "my" Orr family lived in the New Orleans area, my gr gr gr grandfather, David Orr, visited there, and I wonder if possibly there were relatives there.

This is from a written family history: "Dr. Watson?? D.D. tells us that when he come to Reeds Creek in 1842 or 3 that David Orr was in New Orleans La. and after Talking with his daugher Aunt Kitty Orr Billinsley of near Ash Flat, Sharp Co. I found that he had went with his Bro. Joe Orr to New Orleans with a boat load of cattle that they had raised and bought up to Yathes and had Stoufed them (or as we would now say Fattened them). As he (Joe Orr) was selling out every thing and getting ready to go back to Illinois to make his home, not much more of those Orrs that went in Ill is known only that two of them (There was Five of the Orr men in Ill) came back after the Civil War, about 1867 and stayed a few days with David Orr's widow and children and was not heard of any more by them."

I believe my Great Grandfather's mother may have been a Margaret Orr originally from Ireland. Her husband was John McMullian or McMullen (various spellings--McMillan, etc.) who may have been from Scotland or Ireland. They were in Montreal, Quebec, Canada I believe when my Great Grandfather was born in 1847, but I believe they immigrated sometime previous to that from Ireland. My Great Grandfather's name was shown as William John McMullian on the birth record, but when he moved to Ontario and later Minnesota the name was McMillan.

I did find an Irish marriage record for Saul Parish, Downpatrick, County Down, Northern Ireland for an 1844 marriage between a John McMullan and a Margaret Orr. That was from this Ancestry site from the Irish Records Extractin Database which didn't provide a lot of info. I don't know if this could be the ones I'm looking for, but they sound very similar. Would like to know their birth information and parentage if possible.

Baby pictures of her, pictures of her with her father, pictures of her with her mother and pictures of her with what must be a grandmother. I have pictures of her from baby to 2 years old.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Melvin Leroy Orr, 82, of Muscatine, died Sunday, September 14, 2003, at Riverbend Nursing Center.

Service at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Wade Duroe of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, will officiate. Pallbearers will be his. Honorary Pallbearer will be his great grandson, Matthew Orr. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Combined Squads of the American Legion Post 27 and the V.F.W. Post 1565.

Memorials may be made to the Mercy Hospice, Iowa City.

Mr. Orr was born on May 18, 1921, in Wapello, the son of Lloyd and Emma Wehmeyer Orr. He had been a resident of Muscatine all of his life. He married Genevieve E. Sell on November 30, 1942 in Kahoka, MO.

He had worked in the Muscatine area as a welder for many years, retiring in 1988.

He had served in World War II, as a PFC in the Army Air Corps. He was in the Pacific Theatre, serving three years in New Guinea, Biac and the Guadal Canal. He had been a machinist in the motor pool.

Survivors will include his son, Richard Orr and his wife, Linda, of Muscatine; his daughter, Connie Motto and her husband, Vincent, of Blue Grass, Iowa; five grandchildren, Jeffery Orr, Mitchell Orr, Scott Orr, Richard Orr Jr., and Vincent Robert Motto; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, John Orr and his wife, Dorothy, of Muscatine and Harlan Orr and his wife, Karen, of Muscatine; and three sisters, Margaret Boysel, of Muscatine, Jean Borgstadt, of Davenport, and Wanda White and her husband, Ed, of Crawfordsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Genevieve in 1992, two brothers and two sisters.

NAPLES, Fla. - Michael G. Orr, 48, of Naples, formerly of Muscatine, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at his home of a sudden heart attack.

Services are at the Trinity Episcopal Church . Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Trinity Episcopal Church Youth Group.

Mr. Orr was born May 6, 1953, in Jeffersonville, Ind., the son of the late Robert J. Orr and Sue Orr Wagstaff.

He attended Muscatine schools before moving to Fort Myers, Fla. in 1972. He was a trivia fan and had qualified as a finalist for Jeopardy and was on the waiting list to appear on the show.

Survivors include, his mother, Sue Wagstaff and her husband, Raymond, of North Fort Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Greg Orr and his wife, Ardyth, of Muscatine and Rick Orr and his wife, Linda, of Fort Myers; a sister, Jackie Compton and her husband, William, of North Fort Myers; his fiance, Jean Humphries of Naples; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews in Florida, Ohio and Iowa.

John was a life member of the Moose Lodge and attended Mulford Evangelical Free Church. He enjoyed going to yard sales, tinkering with cars, camping, trips to Branson, Missouri, and also enjoyed being with his extended family.
Survivors include two sons, David Orr and wife, Gail, of Pella, and Alan Orr of Muscatine; two daughters, Lois Foor and husband, David, of Muscatine, and Patricia Orr of Muscatine; two grandsons, Eric Orr of Knoxsville and Specialist E-4 Christopher Orr stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina; one brother, Harlan Orr of Muscatine; and three sisters, Margaret Boysel of Hannibal, Missouri, Jean Borgstadt of Davenport, and Wanda White of Crawfordsville.

Honorary casket bearers are Daniel Orr, Joe Orr, Kevin Chick, Michael Reichert, Mitchell Reichert, Bruce Reichert, Steve Orr, Larry Orr, Dennis Chick and Frank Kelly. Burial will be at Indian Creek Cemetery, rural Columbus Junction.

Memorials may be made to Bloomington Friends Church or Cottage Grove Senior Apartments.

Mrs. Orr-Reichert was born March 21, 1936, in Muscatine, the daughter of William Clarence and Marie Margaret Ryan Hinkley. She married Daniel Wayne Orr July 3, 1951. He preceded her in death July 16, 1985. She later married Richard D. Reichert. He preceded her in death April 10, 2001.

She was employed at the Beach Lumber Company for 14 years as a bookkeeper.

She was a member of the Women of the Moose and the Pearl City Sam's Camping Club. She dearly enjoyed spending time with her close and dear friends at the Cottage Grove Community Center.

Survivors include two sons, Steven Orr and wife, Miriam, of Wapello and Larry Orr and wife, Cathy, of Nichols; three daughters, Diane Orr-Kelly and husband, Frank, Cheryl Chick and husband, Dennis, and Barbara Orr, all of Muscatine; four stepsons, Richard Reichert Jr., David Reichert and wife, Gwen, Danny Reichert and wife, Shelly, and Alan Reichert, all of Muscatine; three stepdaughters, Cathy Reichert, Karen Haney and husband, Marc, and Nancy Briles and husband, Scott, all of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren; 21 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 16 step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a sister, Helen Burnett; and a brother, Walter Hinkley.
