My name is Cecil L Orsburn , Columbus Lee Orsburn was my Grandfather , George c Orsburn was my great Grandfather , I'm not sure exactly how , but Jabez Orsburn is definatly related , he is buried in Richland Cemetary with other members of the family, some of which seem(by grave size) to be infants.Would like to have further information on the ancestry.... Dardanelle--June Orsburn, 78 of Dardanelle died Friday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. Born March 11, 1929, in Melbourn, Fla., she was the daughte4r of the late Doc and Millie Jewell. She wase a homemaker with a passion for gardening, cooking and her family. She was a member of the Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, H.M. Orsburn Jr.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Debbie Orsburn of Dardanelle, bill and Rhonda Orsburn of Russellville; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Cindy and Bob DeClerk of Little Rock, Dinah and Tom Cox of Dumas, Mary and Steve Scudder of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren, Howell Cox, Molly Pilkington, Katie Collier, Madison, Emily, and Ashley Orsburn; three great-grandchildren.
Special notice is also made of the wonderfulk caregivers Mrs. Orsburn had in the past few years of her failing health.
Graveside services will be Monday, 10 a.m. at Brearley Cemetery. Visitation wll be Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
In gratutide for their service, hte family requests that memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 2405 East Parkway, Russellville, Ark. 72902.

So then we are cousins..? My father is Otis Jr.'s youngest son. You know after my grandparents divorced, I don't think there was much contact with the Orsburn side. Can you tell me where my grandfather was raised and some background information as far as where the family is from, meaning ancestors..

Actually Otis Melvin Orsburn's parents were Otis and Daisy Orsburn so I guess they were your great-grandparents. That Otis was one of my father's older brothers out of a family of either 10 or 11 children. I can remember mydad talking about his nephew Otis Melvin,

Actually I am a grandchild of Otis Orsburn and Lucille Trijillo, his first wife..I think. Was he married to Daisy after 1960? His full name was Otis Melvin Orsburn.

I am sure that because this post is so old no one will see this, but I am actually Jody's cousin, and yes, his father WAS named after our grandfather. I have no idea where Otis Sr. ended up though..but I just wanted to let you know..

I have been looking at our past postings and still don't know if anyone is reading but here it goes. Otis Melvin Orsburn was my grandfather. My uncle is Otis Melvin Orsburn Jr. I am in my early Forties. Some how I am seeing a link connecting our family. If I understand this youor father was my grandfathers brother. I have been out of contact with this board because of lack of time. My mother just past on at a young 57 years so trying to piece together family once again. Slk1101@comcast.net

Will so far I have this info. My great great grand father was Robert lee Orsburn Jr. My grand father was Clarence Otis Orsburn And my grand father was Otis Melvin Orsburn. I never met nor heard of any of these men but am interested in tracing their lives to understand who I am.

I am not sure you got my previous message. You must be the brother of Otis Melvin Orsburn born 1926. He is my husbands grandfather. We don't know much about him as he passed when my husband was young. We really don't have much info about him, hope you can help. If you have any pictures that would be great.

I can't wait to hear all the info you have. i started looking back in jan 2003 and came to a dead end with Gustavus. I just started looking again and came to the same end. I hope that you can help with the info, i am a family history book for my kids.

Our last name should have been Brooks, this is where it becomes confusing but my mother in law used her maiden name for my husband, she was unwed. she is a descendent of Otis M. Orsburn son of Clarence otis Orsburn son of James orsburn son of Gustavus.

We still need family history on my mother in laws side. She doesn't know of any history except what i have done. So any information will help so we can let our kids know their family history. Talk to you soon.

I have just read your post and wanted to write to let you know that my grandfather, Robert Lee Orsburn was either the son or grandson of Gustavus Orsburn. I haven't thought about these connections in ahile and I will have to get my papers out and check. Whichever it is, I was able to find quite a bit of information a few years ago. I've got things that date back to ancestors coming to American from Switzerland and even have a copy of a will that goes back to ancestors who were plantation owners. It is all very interesting, I just haven't gone any further with it in quite awhile. Hope to hear from you again. Marsha O. Richardson

I will reply more later today but just wanted to tell you that my father, Robert Lee Orsburn Jr., did have an older brother named Otis who loved to Arizona with his wife Daisy and their children. It sounds like to me that he was your grandfather. My dad was the youngest of the children of Robert and Willie Orsburn. I'm not sure how much older your grandfather was than my father. Hope to hear from you again. I will write later.

Orsburn/Osborn/Osburn / died in Germany 1960

I am looking for family members of Jesse Orsbun (or Osborn or Osburn or others). I found out last year that he was my father. He was killed in an accident when he was a soldier . I think that he was born 1937 (+/- 2 years). He was based in a barracks near Speyer / Germany. The accident happened after they had built a bridge over the river 'Rhein'. I have no more informations, so i will be verry happy, if anyone can give me more details.

From what you said, it looks like your grandfather and great-grandfather were named Otis Orsburn. I think that your great=grandmother's name was Daisy. My father was your great-grandfather's brother.(I think!) My dad was the youngest of like 11 children, so almost everyone else was alot older than me. I think that some of my dad's nieces and nephews were older than him. I do remember coming out to Arizona to see Otis and Daisy and I do remember hearing my dad talk about your grandfather.(Otis Melvin) If you're interested, I have quite a bit of info going pretty far back. Your great-great-grandfather(I think that's right) was my grandfather. His name was Robert L. Orsburn. Hope to hear from you soon. M

My grandfather's full name was Melvin Otis Orsburn or Otis Melvin. It is strange that otis and orsburn are used in the same name. That's what drew my attention. My mother was born in Arizona in 1948( phoenix).

Daisy Deliliah Landry.
Clarence Otis is the oldest son of Robert Lee Orsburn, Sr and Willie Jane Ann Countis. I knew your father as "Buster" Robert
Lee Orsburn Jr.

I have information on the Orsburn line thru Christopher H. Orsburn Sr. abt 1832. As you know, the name was often changed and mispelled. It goes back into England (Sir, John)
etc.
