Neva Virginia (Ort) Scoviac Obit
HUDSON — Neva V. Scoviac, age 84, of Hudson and formerly of Tecumseh and Harbor Beach, Michigan, died Saturday, February 23, 2008, at Bixby Medical Center in Adrian. She was born March 10, 1923, in Fayette, Ohio, to Israel C. and Ella (Beatty) Ort. She married Earl Scoviac on August 19, 1949, in Battle Creek, Michigan, and he preceded her in death on January 4, 1991.
She was a registered nurse for over 52 years and worked at Leila Hospital in Battle Creek for many years before retiring from Herrick Hospital in Tecumseh in 1986 after 24 years of service. She attended schools in Fayette, Prattville, Pittsford and graduated from Chesterfield Dover High School in 1941, received her R.N. Degree from Community Hospital School of Nursing in 1944, and her Post Graduate in Pediatrics from Childrens Hospital in Detroit. She was a member of Hudson First Baptist Church, American Red Cross and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurses Corps during WWII.
Surviving Neva are three daughters, Karen (Wayne) Moore of Adrian, Rebecca Scoviac of Ypsilanti, and Beverly (Robert) Walters of Ann Arbor; five grandchildren, Adam Moore, Alyssa (Pat) Kast, Julia Waltes, Andrea (Ryan) Jordan, and Alex Walters; four great grandchildren, one sister, Florence DePelsmaeker; and one brother, Robert (Barbara) Ort. Neva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sisters, Vivian Hoover, Glenna Wolf and Ila Strausbaugh, three brothers, Victor Ort, William Ort and Wilford Ort in infancy, and one grandson Daniel Moore.
Funeral services for Neva will be Tuesday, February 26, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Eagle Funeral Home in Hudson with the Rev. Thomas Ball officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Morenci, Michigan. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until service time.
