Hi, my name is Judith Ortiz Duerr, age 43. My father passed away December 1982, when I was 17 years old and 7 months pregnant. He resided and passed away in NYC, in Spanish Harlem "El Barrio", but was buried in P.R. His name was Juan Alfonso Ortiz "Gallego." My mother, Nereida Blanco, recalls that his family was from Puerto Rico, we believe in Yabucoa. I am aware of a cousin named Carmen Ortiz, whom I met at my father's funeral. She also resided in Spanish Harlem, but I lost her number and was unable to contact her. My aunts names, Lojita, Maria, and other siblings, include a brother (forgot his name). Also searching for my half brother (my father's son), who did not attend the funeral; I don't know his name nor that of his mother. He is several years younger than I. If anyone has any information regarding the above-mentioned, I would really appreciate a response. I am anxious to learn of my father and the Ortiz family. I would also love to touch basis with his son, who I only saw once when I was very young. My two sons, now 26 and 19, are equally interested in extending their family and filling in the gaps. Thank you and good luck to all who are searching for their long lost loved ones:)
