Yes, Paula was born on the 3rd of June 1841, christened on the 5th of June 1841. Her parents were Mariano Cordero and Maria Leonor Gabaldon. Mariano and Leonor were married in 1833. You probably already have their parents. Mariano was born in 1803. Actually his full name was Jose Mariano Teodocio. His parents were married in 1801. Mariano had two sisters.

Miguel Ayala and Francisca Ortiz - Santiago Conguripo, Michoacan, Mexico

We have not been able to find any information on my great-grandmother, "Francisca Ortiz". Francisca was married to "Miguel Ayala" (b. approx. 1860). She was probably born a few years after Papa Miguel's birth. Sadly, there are no pictures of her, and all we have heard is that she was very fair skinned, had blue eyes, red curly hair and was a very lively woman. They may have lived in Santiago Conguripo, Michoacan, Mexico, but not positive. They had 3 handsome sons, "Rosario (Chayo) Ayala" (b. approx. 1883) married to Adelaida, "Tiburcio Ayala" (b. approx. 1886, my mother's father, my grandfather) married to Augustina Maria Lara Martinez, and "Jesus Ayala" (b. approx. 1896) married to Josefa Ledesma. My mother's name is Francisca Lara Ayala. Based on a 1920 census, Miguel Ayala, aged 60, was listed as a widow and living in Riverside, California with his eldest son Rosario and wife Adelaida. If anyone has any info that maybe helpful, a reply would be appreciated.

My grandfather's name was Candelario Ortiz Varela. My mother is searching for relatives on the Ortiz side. My great grandparents names were Costancio (papa cos) Varela and Delores (mama lola) Ortiz. He did have siblings, however, I am not old enough to have remembered their names. The family all originates, as far as we have traced back, to different parts of Texas, as well as, Coahuila, Mexico. If any of this rings any bells please email me at mrs_ambrosi_1@yahoo.com

Searching For Members of Father's family, Juan Alfonso Ortiz (A.K.A. Gallego) and his son

Originally Posted: 25 Aug 2002 11:35PM
Updated: May 12, 2009

Hi, my name is Judith Ortiz Duerr, age 43. My father passed away December 1982, when I was 17 years old and 7 months pregnant. He resided and passed away in NYC, in Spanish Harlem "El Barrio", but was buried in P.R. His name was Juan Alfonso Ortiz "Gallego." My mother, Nereida Blanco, recalls that his family was from Puerto Rico, we believe in Yabucoa. I am aware of a cousin named Carmen Ortiz, whom I met at my father's funeral. She also resided in Spanish Harlem, but I lost her number and was unable to contact her. My aunts names, Lojita, Maria, and other siblings, include a brother (forgot his name). Also searching for my half brother (my father's son), who did not attend the funeral; I don't know his name nor that of his mother. He is several years younger than I. If anyone has any information regarding the above-mentioned, I would really appreciate a response. I am anxious to learn of my father and the Ortiz family. I would also love to touch basis with his son, who I only saw once when I was very young. My two sons, now 26 and 19, are equally interested in extending their family and filling in the gaps. Thank you and good luck to all who are searching for their long lost loved ones:)
I have learned a few more details about Ana Maria Ortiz:

1. She had a small boy 3-4 years old she named after his father and called Junior
2. Her husband was incarcerated in PR (approx. 1963-1965)
3. She lived in Santurce with and aunt and she had no idea she was dating my Dad.
4. Ana Maria was light skinned, aprox. 5.5 - 5.8 inches tall with dark brown eyes

Does any of this information sound familiar - please email me at imaginery02@yahoo.com

Your best bet may be to go to the nearest Mormon Family History center, rent the microfilm that covers the town your grandma was from, like baptisms, birth, death, marriage records; for that time frame. If she was born 1860, look to see what they have for the town she was from. Their website is LDS.org. On there you look for family history, look for library catalog, do a place search. Type in name of the town, then Puerto Rico. See what they have. They can have civil registration records or church records for her town. If you see anything you could use, then look for the nearest center to you. They charge about $5.75 for each film, and you rent it for 1 month. They have viewers at their centers to see the films. Let me know what you find when you go to their website.

in the book Catalogo de Extranjeros, there is a Juan Andres Ledir or Lediz, natural de Francia, reside en Puerto Rico desde el ano 1804, obtiene Carta de Naturalizacion junio de 1816.
So this man came to PR from France in 1904, and applied for Naturalization in 1816.
That is the closest I see to Ledi from France. What are your ancestors names?
