I'm from Oklahoma, but my Great Grandfathers name was Zephany O'Steen. My grandpa's name was Zephany too, but he changed it to Cloe Jack.

William Riley/Wriley Osteen was a younger brother of William Bartley Osteen, Jr. Their father was William Bartley Osteen, Sr.

I understand the need to be 100 percent accurate before we "claim" a line as our own, and was not offended. You were only trying to be sure. I'd be glad to send through email. I have no problem putting it out here in open forum, since I have VERY good anti-spam software, and anyone wanting to send me spam would just fill my deleted folder! :-) Like I said, if you see ANY problems with the research items, let me know. I'll be sure to correct it, so my cousin and I can continue in the right direction. When you do though, Please repeat the problem area and say what records you have to the contrary. I am up to my armpits with "reproving" other lines I just copied, forgetting what sources I used.

Sorry if I sounded short-I meant no disrespect, I just have run into so MANY over the years who are only looking to find all of the work already done for them, with no effort on their part.
I was in contact with an Osteen in Hendersonville, NC some 40-plus years ago, so I am aware there are members of the family in the area and have gathered some materials on them over the years. Due to fact that there were more than one Solomon Osteen of near-same age/at same time-period, there is much confussion over who was just who.
How do you proprose to send your data to me? If you wish, we can use email service, if you wish to send a data file as an attachment to your message. Provide me your email address and I will send you some basic data on my line and we can go from there.

Sorry. I meant Georgia. I am researching 2 surnames at the moment, and one is in Florida. ALL the research I have is either research done by me, or my direct cousin in Hendersonville NC. We are both direct descendants of Solomon Osteen, and the two Thomas Osteen/Austin ancestors of him. I would be glad to send the research I have. If you doubt any of it to be true, let me know. It's always best to know all the "rumors" of ancestry so you can prove them one way or the other. If my research is proven false, I have no problem with that. I'm only after the truth.

1. There is not now nor has there ever been a Chatham Co, FL. You must means either GA or NC.
2. How much of your work is ORIGINAL RESEARCH done by you as opposed to materials/data taken from posted boards, and not documented as to references?
3. My Osteen family came to FL in 1823-24 from GA, with roots in SC & NC. I have researched the line since 1959 and have limited time remaining.

I am a descendant of Solomon Osteen also, and one of my relatives found the will of Thomas Osteen (last name incorrectly spelled Austin) in Chatham County Florida. I'm currently investigating the father of him, Thomas Osteen senior. If you are interested in the research I have, please contact me.

I am a descendant of Marion Fisher O'Steen from O'Steen and Stuart, Fl. His wife was Rosa Prescott. I, too, am looking for info. I did find them on the 1930 US Census but Ancestory has him listed as Manon but I can clearly see that it reads Marion F.

Her father was Samuel AUSTIN/OSTEEN/OUSTON. Richard Littlepage inherited land in Virginia from this Samuel.
Does anyone have more information on this early, (1700's),
AUSTIN/OSTEEN/OUSTON, Viginia family?

I looked thru my files and could not find a John Henry Osteen in SC. If you have other names, I have three charts of Osteens mostly in SC from about 1725 to the 1900's. I found my G.G.G.G.G.G.G.G'father Henry Osteen, his son Thomas Osteen who married Rachel Pritchard, his son Solomon who married Elizabeth Kolb. I won't keep rambling in case there's no connection. I have some misc files that I've not connected to my family yet so I'll check those to see if I can find anything on John Henry. Take care and hope to hear from you soon! Deb (Osteen) Conley

The Solomon Osteen I am looking for came to FL ca 1823/24 and died in Lake City, Columbia Co, FL (today's area) in 1833. Appears to have lived with &/or near John D. Osteen & his brother James Osteen. If this is your connection, will be glad to exchange/share data with you.
