Fredericka Osten & William Harms

We are trying to locate our great grandparents who are from Germany. They had at least one son, our grandfather, William J. Harms b. 20 jan 1878 in Warnamunde, Germany and came to the US in 1898 and was naturalized in SF Calif in 1903? d. 11 sep 1957 Staockton, Calif We are at a dead end . ANY info or help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Ron - Not sure where you are but I am related to the Osten here in Michigan. My Great grandmother is Johanna (anna) Stolzenfeld Osten and her husband was William Osten.

Can I be of help, or vice-versa?

I have an old photograph and newspaper clipping "Howard H. Robinson entertained a select party of friends in royal style last night, at the Summit House, top of Pike's Peak, the guests viewing both sunset and surnise. Mr. Robinson, of course, spread a generous feast to his company, among whom were Miss Jennie Jackson, of Chicago, Ills., and Miss Otelia Osten, and Messrs. S. M. Wertz and Carl Johnson, of Colorado Springs. The part spent an enjoyable night on the mountain.

My grandfathers name was Edward Osten
he married Anna, dont know her maiden name
i am just getting started in geaneology
I don't realy have a lot of info yet

but it is interesting

i'd like to know more about the Ostens in NZ

I am looking for any information on Ann, Jane and/or thier parents.
Ann B Osten married Allison Smith Children: Joyce married John Ozar, Patricia married Lester Gettler, and Norman (born 1920 in CT) married 1st Evelyn Smith 2nd Caroline.
Jane had a summer house in the Thousand Islands area of NY.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was married to an Osten (Carl) and am still close to his family. My two oldest children are from him. They originally settled in Iowa and are now in Nebraska. Can I help you with anything.

If anyone knows anything about the ostands please let us know. We know that there was father Joseph Ostand came here from prussia of russia, in 1903 or there abouts. He had wife Pearl Schwarz son David Philip, Sual, Daughters Anna, Esther, Sarah.

Thanks for your reply. I have had not a lot of luck tracking down my ancestors.
I have my Great X3 naturalization paper when he arrived here in New Zealand in 1872. It states that he was from Tuetz, Prussia. His wife Emma KROPKA was from Stettin. They married in Bromberg. The big question is discovering Carl Frederick Edwards family. It is highly possible his brothers/sisters stayed in Prussia or imagrated to USA. There has always been a rumour that he left Prussia for striking an officier.

I know your posting is pretty old, but I hope you will see this message.

I am looking for Max or Maximiilian (von der) Osten born in 1861 in either Germany or Prussia. I have found what I think is a marriage to Anna Hornburg in 1887 in Cook County, IL, USA.

These are the parents of my maternal great grandmother
I don't have any leads on either of their parents names or places of birth.

Does this sound like info we can share?

My GGGF, Carl Frederick Edward OSTEN was born in Tütz Prussia in 1848. He emigrated to New Zealand in 1872 from Hamburg. It is likely that had he had any brothers or sisters they most probably emigrated to U.S.A during the same period.
I would really like to contact any OSTENs in the states to share info. There are very few of us here in NZ!

I'm looking for info on my G-Grandmother's father. Her name was Martha Jane Osten (1878-1926). Her father was Arrton Osten. All we know is he was born in February 1844 in Prussia and lived in Erie, PA. He was married to Louisa Ranhogle supposedly also from Prussia. Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

My father Eugene Osten was born in Blaialft
(sp)Germany on or about Oct.28,1886, came to
the US about 1905, lived in California for
half his life, died Oct. 9,1970. I am his
only known child. There aren't too many Osten
names out there, and wonder if all of us are

I am looking for information on Martin Andreas (aka Andrew Simon) OSTEN born 15 July 1867 in Hadeland, Norway. He emigrated to the USA in May 1869 arriving at Ellis Island. He then moved to Fillmore County, MN for a brief period of time and eventually relocated to Norwegian Grove township, Otter Tail County. His parents were Simen Larsen OSTEN and Kjersti PEDERSDATTER STADUM. He married Thea HOVLAND 24 November 1891. They had 10 children together. Andrew died 15 February 1956 in Otter Tail County. I am looking for additional information on Simen Larsen Broen OSTEN who was born in Hadeland, Norway 15 July 1827 and died 15 February 1896 in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota. He married Kjersti Pedersdatter STADUM in Hadeland on 13 April 1858. Kjersti and Simen had three children together. He emigrated to the United States in May 1869. He initially settled in Fillmore County and eventually moved to Otter Tail County (Norwegian Grove Township) where he spent the remainder of his life.
