Hello OSTERMAN Board:

It's that time, again, to make my semi-annual request for the ancestors of Jospeh OSTERMAN(N) and Margaret (O)SULLIVAN. I have enormous amounts of DESCENDENT information, census, births, marriages, death, burials, nieces, nephews, ggggrandchildren, from 1880 to the PRESENT, etc.

I am looking for OSTERMAN(N), (O)SULLIVAN, and UNKNOWN ANCESTORS.

Joseph OSTERMAN(N) and Catherine UNKNOWN (possibly HENGES, HEHNGES, or some variation, not known for sure), both from PRUSSIA (Germany) arrived in the USA sometime before the 1860 US Census. In tow, they had at least one child, another Jospeh OSTERMAN(N). There may have been another OSTERMAN, (sister? or an older child? who remained in Prussia/Germany), a Rachel OSTERMAN. We know that Rachel OSTERMAN lived to be 100 and may have never married?

There is family lore and legend that my Margaret SULLIVAN was the sister of Michael SULLIVAN. Michael SULLIVAN was the father of John L. Sullivan, the famed US Boxer from Boston (Roxbury) MA. If this SULLIVAN lineage is true(?), it would place this branch of the SULLIVAN from Laccabeg, Abbeydorney, Co. Kerry, IRE

Here is what I know as FACT:

1. Joseph OSTERMAN, b. abt 1814 Prussia, d. ? Utica, NY. m. Catherine UNKOWN, b. abt 1817, Prussia, d. ?, Utica, NY. They were both in the United States possibly by the 1860 (it's not clear) US Census and definitely by the 1880 US Census. They had:

2. Joseph Osterman, b abt 1845, Prussia (Hamburg?), d. 1927, buried St. Josephs' Cemetery, Auburn, NY, m. Margaret SULLIVAN, b. abt 1850, ?, ?, Ireland, d. 1917, buried St Joseph's Cemetery, Auburn, NY. They had

i. Margaret Osterman KRATZENBERG, b. abt 1870, Utica
ii. Lizzie Osterman, b. abt 1873, Utica
iii. William Osterman, b. abt 1875, Utica
iv. Humphrey Osterman, b. abt, 1877, Utica
v. Frederick Osterman, b. abt 1880, Utica
vi. Josephine Osterman SCHIED, b. abt 1882, Utica
vii. John Osterman, b. abt 1885, Utica
viii. Arthur Wm. Osterman, b. 1891, Utica (My GrandFather)

3. Arthur Wm. Osterman, b. 1891, Utica, NY, d. 1948 Berkeley, MI, m. 1911 St. Mary's, Auburn, NY, Alice Isabelle (Belle) RICE, b. July 1890, NY, d. Nov 1980, Berkley, MI. They had:

i. Virginia Osterman RADATZ, b. abt 1912, NY, d.197 , Berkley, MI.

ii. Arthur Wm. Osterman, Jr, b. Sep 1916, Detroit, MI, d. Dec 1980, Mesa, AZ, m. Nov. 1940, Ephiphany Church, Detroit, MI, Mary Jane (Peggy) SCHILLING, b. Jan 1917, Detroit, MI, d. Dec 1952, Caswell, MI (MY PARENTS)

iii. Living Osterman MARTIN

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Slainte,
Susan
