Hello. I am researching the family of Eduarda Osuna who m. Benjamin Foxen. My wife descends from the Olivera family. Thomas Olivera was the stepfather of Eduarda.
I am descended from the Foster family, who had multiple marriages into the Foxen family. The picture that you indicated in you 2003 posting would be something of great interest. If you are able to provide a copy, or know where a copy is available, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thank you.

Dankooiman@yahoo.com
Corona, California

My Grandfather was born in Sinaloa. I am not sure of the town. He was a professional baseball player. A left hand pitcher. Nicknamed "El Feo Osuna" He was the son a promanent man of the town. Born out of wedlock, to his father's maid. The family failed to acknowledge him as their own. However, his father did give him his lastname. His name was Roberto Osuna. He married Maria Luisa Alcaraz Gastelum.

Rene,

I know this a reply to an old posting, but I hope it reaches you... or any other Osuna looking for info.

I'm following a line of Osunas that came with Gaspar Portola from Loreto Baja, Mexico in 1769 to San Diego.
I'm trying to locate where Juan Ismerio De Osuna's children and grandchildren traveled. I think they went back into Mexico to Sinaloa. We already have evidence they went North of Los Angeles as far as San Jose, CA.I have a couple of contacts that can help.
Please contact me to see if any of your family traces their ancestors to San Diego. Here is th eline I'm following:

Juan Ismerio De Osuna
Juan Maria Osuna (His other siblings)
Leandro I. Osuna (His brother: Julio Osuna)
Julio Osuna
Ramon N. Her last names were Osuna Ibarra, although some of her brothers wrote the Ibarra with a Y, as in Ybarra.
There were thirteen brothers and sisters, but none of the ones I know was named Juan. Our family is huge! And I do know that the Osunas Ibarras and Canos came from the Bascos(or Vascos) region of Southern France, Northern Spain.
Some of my mother's brothers and sisters are/were: Monico, Abraham, Cornelio, Daniel, Elias, Jose, Ramon, Raquel, Martha, Sarah, Carmen, Febe.

She married a Mr. domini at age 13 (arranged by family) and 4 children, John domini, anne Domini, Elizabeth Domini, and Dorothy Domini. He abandoned Lucy when Dorothy was just a baby. My grandmother later married Murray Hubbert of Oceanside, CA, and they had two children, Edwin and Carolyn (My mother).

My grandmother Lucy had several siblings: John, Ernest, clara, Francis, and Nora osuna. Francis and Nora married brothers with the name of Frazee, also of Oceanside.

However, when my mother was a young girl living with Ramon and leonora, they lived in the Rancho Dieguito home, and original adobe in now, Rancho Santa Fe.

Where did your family settle?
susie Martin

Juan Maria Osuna (1784-1847) who was mayor of San Diego in 1834 is also supposed to be a relative of ours, although we do not have much information on that branch of the family tree. He had a son, also Juan Maria Osuna, borm 1827, died ? and was married to Francis. They had at least 4 sons, possible more children named, Ramon, Antonio, Lee (Leandro), and Julio. Antonio(1852-1919) was married to my great grandmother. My Great grandmother was Maria Antonia Estudillo(1863-1950). We are working on the Osuna family line, if you think this is your family, let me know.
Diane

Hi Valerie
I'm not sure if you remember me. I met you in Washington in 1990. Fidencio Osuna was my grandfather. Larrie Osuna is my mother. I am 23, and currently live in Madera. I know how to get ahold of most of my mother's family. You should know that my grandfather's only son, my tio Robert, passed away earlier this year. If you want any information, please let me know. I would be glad to help you get in touch with the family.

Scroll up about eight inches to see it.

The SSDI has 476 hits for OSUNA, including an Antonio OSUNA, born 1894 May 30, died Feb 1975, last residence = Corona, CA, card issued in CA.

Reg Niles

Re: Does anyone know Leslie Joseph Osuna?

There's a Leslie OSUNA (1917-1975) who lived in San Francisco at the time of his death. He is listed on the online Social Security Death Index :

http://ssdi.rootsweb.com

If you need his birthplace and the names of his parents, the government will sell you a copy of the SS-5 form filled out when he or she applied for a social security card. RootsWeb has a form letter for this purpose.

RootsWeb also allows you to post an annotation to his entry by clicking on "Add Post-em" but I don't know that any relative will see your message there.

The SSDI nevers states the place of death. But a family genealogist can guess at what state it occurred in and apply for the decedent's death certificate, kept on file at the state Office of Vital Records. In California, it's located in Sacramento and the website is :

http://www.dhs.ca.gov/hisp/chs/ovr/vitalfee.htm

A family member may be listed as informant on the death certificate, which would also name the funeral director and cemetery---who can be queried about names of relatives or at least who paid their bills.

There might be an obituary in the newpaper and/or a will at the county courthouse---both should list relatives.

Reg Niles

OSUNA. They charge a fee for his address.

You can also check Switchboard.com, a national phone directory which does not require that you know the state one lives in.
Hello, I am granddaughter of Lucy Osuna (Maria de la luce erlinda Osuna) who married a Mr. Domini, Murray Hubbert and Emile Hebert who lived in Vista, CA. She was the oldest child of Ramon and Leonora (Pico) Osuna who, when Lucy was a young girl in the early 1900's, lived at Ranchio San Dieguito (now Rancho Santa Fe). All the names you have listed fit with the information my mother's cousin, Barbara Lang of Oceanside, CA, provided us; however, I have no idea which of Juan Maria's son's was the father of my great grandfather, Ramon Osuna. Any idea? my grandmother's other siblings, mostly of Oceanside, were John (Jack), Ernest, Francis, Nora, and Clara (there were more but I cannot remember all the names at this time). In the late 1960'2 the family put on a big family reunion in Vista, CA. would you have attended? I think I was in the 7th grade at the time.

I am also a descendant of Juan Maria Osuna, the first major of San Diego. My grandmother, Lucy Osuna Hubbert Hebert of Vista, California lived in the family residence, Rancho San Dieguito, now on the property of the prestigious Rancho Santa Fe, as a young girl. Her mother was Leonora and her children were Francis, Jack, Ernest, Nora, and others. Aunties Francis and Nora were married to brothers, Frazee, a Oceanside, California family. There were other siblings. the oldest sister was married to a mr. Carpenter and they lived in oceanside as well. What I would like to know is who my great grandfather was. he was an osuna but i do not know his name. The great grandmother was leonora and very invovled at Mission San Luis Rey. I know Juan Maria Osuna built the old family adobe home and that he passed it on to his son, Leandro, but he killed himself and I do not know who took over the home after that but know my grandmother, Lucy, lived there until it was sold in 1910.

I do not know her maiden name and she was my great grandmother and very active in San Luis Rey mission. Her children were jack, Francis, Nora, Lucy, and Ernest Osuna all from areas within San Diego County. It is my understanding my grandmother, Lucy, lived with her parents in the Rancho San Diegieto adobe home, one of the oldest California homes and now a historical landmark in the prestigious Rancho Santa Fe development near Carlsbad, California. somehow or other, Leonora was related, I believe, to the Pico family who owned Rancho Santa Margarieta, now Camp Pendelton, and sold it to a brother-in-law by the name of Forster, John.
